DESIGN.
J. A. H. DRESSEL. TARGET.
No. 14,355. Patented Oct. 23, 1883.
fittest: Inventor.
@ W 2- Av M 62 UNITED STATES PATENT ()FFICEO JOHN A. H. DRESSEL, OF BROOKLYN, NE\V YORK.
DESlGN FOR A TARGET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 14,355, dated October 23, 18 3.
Application filed July 6, 1883. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, JOHN A. H. DRESSEL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Targets, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof.
The design which I have produced is illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which- The letters A B designate the two or more concentric rings, and C the circular bulls-eye, of an ordinary target.
D D are radial lines extending from or near the bulls-eye O to or nearly to the outer ring, A. The lines D D are twelve in number, and are placed at equal distances apart, after the manner of the hour-marks on an ordinary clock or watch dial. In addition to the lines are numbers from 1 to 12, which are placed near the said lines at their ends, as shown, or in such manner that the eye may readily see to what hour-mark of an ordinary clock any one of the lines D D corresponds.
Heretofore targets have been made with an arbitrary number of circles, squares, or similar figures around a lmlls-eye,and one or more lines drawn diametrically across them. The essential feature of my design, however, is the arrangement across the face of the target of lines or marks D D, correspondingin numher and position to the hour-marks of a clockdial.
What I therefore claim is- 1. Thedesignfortargets, consistingof circles or rings around a central bulls-eye, with lines or marks corresponding in number and posit-ion to the hour-n1arks of a clockdial, sub stantially as herein shown and described.
2. The design for targets, consisting of the central bulls-eye, G, concentric circles A B, and radial lines D D, numbered from 1 to 12 consecutively, as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 2d (lay of July, 1883.
JOHN A. H. DRESSEL.
