Description

UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
S. E. CHUBBUCK, OF ROXBURY, MASSACHUSETTS, ASSIGNOR TO HIMSELF AND I. Y. t S. E. UHUBBUCK, JR., OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A STEAM-RADIATOR.
Specification forming part of Design No. 1,402, dated April 30, 1861.
To alZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, S. E. CHUBBUCK, of Roxbury, in the county of Norfolk and State of Massachusetts, have invented or produced a new Design for a Steam-Radiator; and I do hereby declare that the following is afull, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, making a part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 is a front elevation of my design for a steam-radiator, showing the configura tion of the same. Fig. 2 is a transverse section through Fig. 1 in the vertical plane indicated .by red line m :v thereon.
This design relates to steam radiators or heaters which are used to warm rooms, and which are let into fi re-places or recesses formed in the walls of buildings, so as to be out of the way and at the saine time radiate heat int-o the rooms.
The invention consists in ornamenting the corrugated plates of steam-heaters by giving the` corrugations or ridges on the surfaces thereof an arched or sclnicircular form, coinmencing from each side of the plate, continuing toward the middle thereof', and ending in a single corrugation or ridge, as will be hereinafter explained.
A represents one side or surface of my new corrugated steam-heater. a aare perpendicular corrugations extending up from the bottom ofthe plate A to the base of the arched portion of this plate. These corrugations are parallel to each other, and each corrugation is carried over in seniieircular lines, forming the arches b b b b,which grow gradually smaller as they approach the central corrugation, c, of the plate, the corrugations or ribs remaining the same size and shape. c is the central straight corrugatiou, terminating at its upper end at a point with which all the arches b b b b are concentric.
The outer edges of the corrugated plate A are straight at the sides and semicircular on top, the bottom edge or base forming right angles with the sides.
The entire surface of the plate A is thus made up of straight and semicircular corrugations or ribs and depressions or furrows, which present a beautiful appearance when finished, and correspond in architecture with the ornamental bordering with which these plates are to be surrounded when finished and put up in their places.
Having thus described my design, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent. is-
Arranging the corrugaton on plate A so as to produce the configuration herein described and represented.
S. E. CHUBBUCK. Vitnesses:
M. M. LIVINGSTON, C. W. COWTAN.
