SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 12,439, dated August 80, 1881. Application filed AngustS, 1851. Term of patent 131} years.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, CHARLES MAGEB, of Williauisbnrg, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented a new and original Design for Carpets, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to a new and original design for carpets and similar fabrics; and it consists in the novel grouping and configuration of figures hereinafter more fully described.

The accompanying photograph illustrates a face view of a carpet having my new design.

011 a railing-like figure, F, stands a vaselike tigure, J, from which appears to grow the foliage E, the flowers H, r, and t, which together form the most prominent floral decoration of the carpet. Above the vase and apparently behind the group E is the upper part of a column, a, which is partly hidden by foliage that extends over it from the figures E and t, and also by a spray, 0. This figure 0, which is a group of leaves and flowers, projects from a decorated scroll, D, which forms the lower part of a geometrical figure, A, which is below the railing F.

G is a group of flowers and leaves connect ing the figures F and A. To the left of the figure F is a scroll, s, which, on matching the our pet, will appear to be part of the scroll e, which is at the right of the figure H and above the flower-like ornaments r.

m is a fioral ornament placed below the figare D, as shown, joining it to H.

a is a bouquet joining the figures D and A at the right.

I claim- 1. The design for carpets, consisting of the figures F, J, and E, substantially as shown.
