UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICEO GARLETON \V. NASON, OF MONTOLAIR, NEW JERSEY, AND GEORGE E. KNOWLES, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.
DESIGN FOR A BASE OF PUMPING- ENGINES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 12,406, dated August 9, 1881.
Application filed July 7, 1881. Term of patent 14 years.
1 0 all whom it may concern Be it known that we, CARLETON W. NASON, of Montclair, Essex county, New Jersey, and GEORGE E. KNowLEs,of the city of Brooklyn, Kings county, and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Design for Bases of Pumping-Engines,of which the following is a. specification.
In the drawings, Figure l is a plan view, Fig.2 is a side view, and Fig.3 is an end view, of our newly-designed base.
The base is composed of the main portion A, which is hollow, and the bed-plate B. The box A isof rectangular form in its general outline. One end is recessed in the form of 21. segment of a globe or formed with curved brackcts a a, and the plate B is formed with a semicircular recess, b, to correspond. The brackets a are thus an elongation of the sides of the base. At the same time the base, when viewed from the side or top, has a light and graceful appearance. The plate B is also provided with a circular opening, 0, formed with a flange. The edges of the plate B are preferably formed with a downwardly-extending flange, e,of beveled form.
Having thus described our invention, we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. The design for bases of pumping-engines shown and described, consisting of box A, having brackets or proiongations a at one end, and a top plate, B, shaped to correspond.
2. The design for bases of pumping-engines shown and described, which consists in the recessed end of the body A and bed-plate B.
