Be it known that I, Francis A. Johnson, acitizen of the United States, residing at Endicott,
countyof Broome, State of'New York, and whose post-oilice address is 1106Broad Street, in said village, have invented a new, originaL and ornamental Design for a Combined Rubber Sole and Heel, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, constituting a part thereof;

Term of patent 14 years i The characteristic features of the combined rubber sole and heel are the tapered upper sur- 1 face of the shank connecting the upper surface of the heel portion with the upper surface of the relatively thinner sole portion; also the provision on the entire area of the flat tread portions of the sole, heel, and shank of uniformly spaced narrow intersecting ribs of substantial height and constant cross-section forming relatively deep recesses of parallelogrammatic shape having parallel side walls.

The ornamental design for a combined rubber sole and heel, substantially as shown and described.
