DESIGN FOR CARPET.
Specification forming part of Design No. 11,375, dated August 26, 1879 application tiled August 2, 1879. [Term of patent 3J,- yearsj To all whom tmay concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE W. PIGGOTT, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and original Design for a Carpet, of which the following is a specification.
The accompanying photograph illustrates my new design.
This invention relates to a new design for carpets., oil-cloths, and analogous fabrics; and consists in the novel grouping and configuration of tigures hereinafter more fully pointed out.
The groundwork of the carpet is divided into a series of rectangles, which are so placed as to interlock, and thereby take one or more corners oli' each rectangle. Thus the contiguous rectangles A and B interlock in manner stated; likewise the contiguous rectangles B and C; also the rectangles B and D; also the rectangles D and E; also the rectangles D and G. Between the figures C, E, and G is a ligure, H, of irregular outline. Between the figures A and C is the rectangle F.
The several gures are provided with ornamental borders and decorated with floral designs. The ligures B and H contain rich bouquets of flowers; likewise the iigure A.
