DESlGN FOR HANDKERCHIEFS.

Specification forming part of Design No. 11,203, dated May 20, 1879', application iiled April .32, 1879. [Term of patent 3% years] To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, ALBERT TILT, of the city of Paterson, in the State of New Jersey, have originated or designed a Pattern or Dcsign for Handkerchiefs, of which the follow ing is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying photographic illustration, making a part of this specification My design relates more particularly to that description of handkerchiet's usually known as figured-silk handkerchiefs," and consists of the ornamentation of the central portion or body A of a handkerchief by embroiderin g or weaving upon it the design or arrangement of sprigs of ferns set forth and shown in the accompanying photographic illustration, the design on the portion of such body A not shown in such illustration being a duplication of that on theportion shown. Such design may be in colors different from the body A of the handkerchief, or they may be of the same color, the one being of silk and the other of satin.

l have usually inclosed such central portion or body, A, with the design upon it, within a suitable border, in order to form a complete handkerchief, such border being shown in the accompanying illustration and designated therein by the letter B; but I do not claim such border as part of the design originated by me; but

The design for a handkerchief, consisting, essentially, of the central portion or body, A, of sprigs of ferns, grouped substantially as described, and shown in the accompanying illustration.
