DESIGN FOR BREASTPINS.
Specification forming part of Design No. 10,960,1lated December 10, 1878 application filed September 28, 1878.

Be it known that I, HIRAM S. SoMEs, of Attleborough, Bristol county, State of Massachusetts, have originated aDesign for a Breastpin or other article of jewelry, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part of this specification.
1n the drawing, Figure l is a side or edge view of a breastpin embodying my design, and Fig. 2 is a plan or face view of the same.
My design consists in a strip, ribbon, or bar, A, the face a of which is composed of a number of planes extending laterally across said face a, as shown at at, and with their contiguous edges meeting or joined at an obtuse angle, as shown. The face a thus formed is slotted longitudinally throughout its length with parallel slats a extending vertically through the strip or bar A from the face a to the other side thereof. Extending laterally across the face a, along the line of the angles of the contiguous edges of the planes a are the transverse partitions or webs a which are parallel to each other, as shown.
My design, as described, may be fabricated of gold or base metal, and the face a may be polished or made lustrous, 0r enameled, to suit the taste.
The design may be used in various forms of jewelry, such as breastpins, scarf -rings, and slides, pins, studs, sleeve-buttons, and bracelets, &c.
What I claim as my invention is- The design for a breastpin or other article of jewelry, consisting of the strip or bar A, having its face a, composed of planes to, extending laterally across it, and with their contiguous edges meeting at obtuse angles, and having the longitudinal parallel slats a and transverse parallel partitions or webs a substantially as described.
