Description

No. 10,018 May 29, 1877 Wanton UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
WILLIAM DEMUTH, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
DESIGN FOR CIGAR-PIPES- Specification forming part of Design No. 10,018, dated May 29, 1877; application filed March 22, 1877. [Term of Patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, WILLIAM DEMUTH, of the city, county, and State of New York, have originated a new Design for Cigar-Pipes, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, which represents a side view of a pipe embodying my design.
This invention consists in the design for a cigar-pipe, consisting of a cigar-shaped bowl having the representation of a spirally wound covering, a central band, a mouth-piece having a bead and curvatures, and a cover at the end representing the ashes of a burning cigar, as will more fully hereinafter appear.
1n the drawing, the letter A designates a pipe-bowl, which has the general contour of a cigar, with the representation of a spirallywound covering, as at E, to more fully carry out the appearance of a cigar. The inner end of this bowl is made in the form of a stem or mouth-piece, B, extending in a line therewith. such stem or mouth-piece being ornamented with a bead, a, immediately next the bowl A, and with curvatures b c. The outer end of the bowl A is made in the form of a cover, 0, representing the ashes of a burning cigar. A band, D, is wrapped around the bowl A, having an imprint to represent a particular brand of cigars, and thereby the effect of the shape of the bowl is greatly increased, while by thecombined features set forth a pipe is obtained having a novel and distinguishing appearance.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for a pipe, consisting of the cigarshaped bowl A, its representation of a spirallywound covering, a band, D, the mouth-piece B, having the bead a and curvatures b o, and the fixed cover 0, representing the ashes of a burning cigar, all substantially as shown and described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand and seal.
WM. DEMUTH. [L. s.]
Witnesses CHAS. REDEOKER, JAMES BASOH.
