POLISHING-MACHINE FOR WOODWORK.
Be it known that I, AUGUST Puccnn, a and resident of chwelm, in the Province of Westphalia, German Empire, have invented new and useful Improvements in Polishing-Machines for Woodwork,of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to a polishing machine for wood work of the kind in which a polishing ball is operated by a flexible shaft or the like and, in a controllable manner, automatically supplied with polish from a receptacle and provided with a handle loosely surrounding the shaft.
In polishing machines hitherto known an from the fact that the the polish rotated to gether with the ball so that the polish was continuously hurled during the polishing operation. It was, therefore, difficult to control the supply of polish from the continuously rotating receptacle during the polishing operation.
The present inconvenience arose receptacle containing invention consists in that the polish receptacle is rigidly connected with the handle loosely surrounding the flexible shaft so that the polish receptacle is at rest the polishing ball. Therefore, the polish is not hurled and its supply may be easily controlled without danger.
In the drawings Figure 1 is a vertical section of a polishing machine according to the invention. Fig. 2 shows a modification.
In the constructional form according .to Fig. 1 the spindle a is at 6 connected with a flexible shaft 0. At the lower end of the spindle a a disk 01 is secured by means of a screw 6. The edge f of the disk d is turned down, attached to the turned down edge 7 of the disk d. The seive g is provided with the polishing ball 11,.
The spindle a is surrounded by-a tube 1' which is rigidly connected with the disk (1. At the upper and lower end the tube 6 is rovided with annular notches k which form earings for the handle Z arranged for operating the polishing tool. The handle 1 forms a support for the receptacles m m n n b which the polish and alcohol is supplied into the space 0 between the spindle a and the tube 2'. Said space 0 is at its lower lower ends provided with disks 1* r.

As will be evident the receptacles m m are during the operation of the polishing machine at rest.
In the modification according to Fig. 2 the spindle a is connected with an electro-motor t. This electro-motor t is surrounded by a receptacle m for the polish, which is supplied by means of the valves 1' through the ollow handle 1 to the polishing ball h provided at the lower end of the spindle a. The handle Z is also rigidly connected with the receptacle m as in the constructional form according to Fig. ,1.
The construction of the other parts of the machine is substantially the same as in Fig. 1.

The combination with a wood-work polishing machine having a polishing ball, a hollow handle therefor, a rotary spindle connected with the polishing ball and ro tating freely within the handle, and driving means for said rotary spindle; of an annular receptacle containing the polish. said receptacle being rigidly carried at the upper end of said handle and surrounding the driving means, an annular space between said handle and spindle forming a conduit for supplying polish from the receptacle to the polishing ball, and valve means for controlling the supply'of polish.
2. The combination with a wood-work polishing machine having a polishing ball, a hollow handle therefor, and a rotary spindle connected with the polishing ball and rotating freely within the handle, of an electric motor mounted upon and supported by said handle, said electric motor being connected to the spindle, an annular receptacle containing the polish, said receptacle being rigidly carried at the upper end.of said handle and surrounding the electric motor, an annular space between said handle and spindle forming a conduit for supor closed by means of plying polish from the receptacle to the polishing ball and valve means for controlling the supp y of polish. v

The combination .with. a wood-work polishing machine, having a polishing. ball, a hollow handle therefor, a rotary spindle connected with the polishingl ball and rotating freely within the ban e, and driving means for said rotary'spindle; of an annular receptacle containing the olish, said receptacle bein rigidly carrie at the upper end of said handle and surrounding the driving means, an annular space between said handle and spindle forming a conduit for supplying polish from the receptacle to the polishing ball, valve openings in the bottom of said receptacle, said valve openings communicating with said annular space, and spring controlled means operated from theexte'rior of said receptacle for opening and closing said-valve openings.
4. The combination with a wood-work polishing machine having a polishing ball, a-hollow handle therefor a rotar spindle connected with the polishing ha and rotating freely within the handle, and driving means for said rotary spindle; of an annular receptacle containing the polish, said receptac e being rigidly carried at the upper end of said handle and surroundin the driving means, a bush within the handle and rotating with said spindle and polishing ball, an annular space between said bush and spindle forming a conduit for supplying polish from the receptacle to the polishing ball, and valve means for controlling the supply of polish.
