VAPOR-STOVE.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GUSTAV BARTHEL, a subject of the German Emperor, residing at Dresden, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Vapor- Stoves, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention has reference to improvements in spirit stoves and relates more especially to improvements in that type of stoves or burners in which the liquid fuel is vaporized by an auxiliary flame, and the vapor is then mixed with air and then burned, part of this mixture being used for feeding the auxiliary flame for sustaining vaporization; and the object of the invention is to obtain a more perfect vaporization of the fuel and allow of the burner being quickly and easily taken apart for cleaning purposes, and lastly to so dispose the vaporizer that it in no way interferes with the main flame.
In order to make my invention more readily understood, I will now describe it with reference to the accompanying drawing, in which- Figure 1 represents a vertical section through a preferred form of my new stove, partly in section; Fig. 2 is a cross-section on line a-a of Fig. 1, and Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the burner part proper.
" The vaporizer consists of the straight tube 1 filled with porous material 2, such as wires, asbestos threads or the like. At one end this tube is closed by a nut 3, and at the other end there is provided a screw spindle 4. with head 5, servmg as needle valve, and cooperating with the passage 6 in the wall 7 dividing the vaporizing tube 1 from the depending short tube -8. tends through the mixing chamber -10- which communicates above with the burner head 11 and laterally with the mixing tube -12. The burner head is provided with passages 13- throu h which the useful flame is fed with gas, an with passages l4- for the auxiliary flame used for heatmg the vaporizing tube 1. For aiding this auxiliary flame there are provided in the wall of the mixing chamber 10- further vapor passages 15.
From the reservoir l6 the fuel is conducted into the vaporizer through the Specification of Letters Patent.

Owing to the rapid and very thorough vaporization, the porous fuel carrier 2 soon clogs up with impurities and it must be cleaned or exchanged. That is easily done by unscrewing the nut 3, when the carrier can be removed. Since the vaporizer lies underneath the burner head, it does not in any way interfere with the main flame.
What I claim is In a vapor stove, the combination with a burner head having top, side and bottom passages, of a mixing chamber vertically depending from and communicatlng w1th said burner head and having lateral passages a horizontal tube communicating with its 1n ner end with said chamber and open at the other end, a vaporizer passing clear through said mixing chamber above said horizontal tube,.below said burner head, and between said bottom and lateral passages, a tube communicating with and depending from said vaporizer and having a lateral aperture 0pposite the open end of said horizontal tube, means for supplying fuel to said vapor zer, fuel conducting means within said vaporizer,
