This invention relates to ladies hand bags, and it has for its'object to produce a device of this class which shall possess superior advantages in point of simplicity of construction and general convenience.
With these and other ends in view which will readily appear as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same consists in the improved construction and novel arrangement and combination of parts which will be hereinafter fully described and particularly pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawing has been illustrated a simple and preferred form of the invention, it being, however, understood that no limitation is necessarily made to the precise structural details therein exhibited, but that changes, alterations and modifications within the scope of the invention may be resorted to when desired.
In the drawing,Figure 1 is a perspective view showing a hand bag constructed in accordance with the invention. Fig. 2 is a front viewof the same showing the mirror exposed to view.- Fig. 3 is a vertical sectional view taken on the line 33 in Fig. 2, but showing the mirror in retracted position.
Corresponding parts in the several figures are denoted by like characters of reference.
The bag A, which is provided with a frame B equipped with a clasp or closure C of suitable construction, may be of any desired size, shape and color. The outer bag comprises an outer portion 1 which is preferably made of any suit-able kind of leather, although other material may be substituted, and a lining 2, which may be made either of leather or textile fabric or any other suitable material. One side of the bag body, which may be regarded as the front side is provided with slots or apertures, one of which, 3, is locatedadjacent to the frame, while the other slot 4 is formed inthe bottom of the bag body adjacent to the. front side. The slot 0 has been shown to be pro tected by an eyelet 5, and the slot 4 may be similarly protected when desired. It will be observed that the slots 3 and 4 are formed in the outer portion 1 of the bag body only, thus leaving the space 6 intermediate the portions 1 and 2. accessible through said slots. The slot 4 in the bottom of the bag body is of suflicient dimensions to admit of the passage of a mirror. 7 which is fastened upon a flexible member D including a strap portion 8 upon which the mirror is directly secured and an extension strap 9 which is detach'ably connected with the strap portion 8 by suitable means, such as a clasp embodying a stud or button 10 and a spring cap 11 detachably engaging the same. The terminals of the strap members 8 and 9 are likewise adapt'ed to be connected together, as shown in Fig. 3, by means including a stud or button 12 and a spring cap 13 or by any other suitable and convenient connecting means. The mirror 7 is adapted to be ac commodated in the space 6 intermediate the outer bag portion 1 and the lining 2, and to be projected through the slot 4. The extension strap 9 is guided through the slot 3, where it is retained against removal by the clasp portions connected with the ends of said extension strap.
Within the bag are provided suitable pockets, such as 14 and 15, for the reception of safety pins, hair pins, stamps and the like, the pocket 15 being provided with a cover fiap 16 having a fastening device 17. A pin pad or cushion 18 is also attached upon the lining of the bag. Exterior pockets 19 are also provided for the reception of car tickets, change and the like, said pockets being provided with cover flaps 20 having fastening devices 21. The mirror, when retracted through the slot- 4, is safely accomportion 1 and the lining 2 and is there secured by connecting the clasp members 12 and 13 at the terminal ends of the strap members 8 and 9. By disconnecting the clasp members 12 and 13 and. pulling downward upon the strap member 8 the mirror will be projected, as shown in Fig. 3, and it may be entirely detached when desired by disconnecting the clasp members 10 and 11. When the mirror is in retracted position the exposed end of the stra portion 9 may be utilized for carrying g oves, handkerchiefs and the like which may be safely tucked between said strap member and the outer portion of the bag. I
The bag frame B is equipped with a handle 22 having a hook 23 whereby the bag may be conveniently suspended from a belt when desired.
From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the drawings hereto an,
1. A hand bag mcluding a body portion and a lining, sa1d body portion being provided with slots, an object accommodated in the spae between the body portion and the lining and adapted to be projected through one of the slots, and a flexible member comprising two strap portions connected together, detachably, at one end, one of said strap portions being connected with the object which is thereby supported; said strap portions being provided at their free ends with means whereby they may be detachably connected together.
