To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WVILLIAM. E. citizen of the. United States, residing at De troit, county of Wayne, State of Michigan, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Metallic \Vindow-Sash, and declare the following'to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings,
which form a part of this specification.
My invention relates-to an improvement in metallic window sashes, and particularly themeans of interlocking the vertical and cross mullions with each other,the object being to so construct the interlocking portion of these cross members'thatthey may be engaged with each other and securely locked without distorting the regularity of the bars, the symmetrical appearance of the sash being'thereby preserved.
A further object is to provide means whereby cross and vertical mullions of the same relative size may be interlocked, without either presenting a bulged appearance at the point of intersection,the objection to sash as now manufactured employing mullions of the same eross-sectional area.

The lugs a are then bent back (as shown in F at) in line with the main body of the web portion whereby the mullions A and B are securely locked together.
A great advantage is gained in the strength and appearance of the sash by the use of this invention as I am enabled to employ cross and vertical mullions of the same size,the surfaces of the intersecting mullions being flush with eaeh other when interlocked,a much handsomer appearance being thereby obtained than is possible in constructions where it becomes necessary to form a hump at each intersection in order to rovide a assa e for the cross members or in constructions requiring one set of mullions to be larger than the intersecting members.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is 1. Two sets of'cross jointed bars of equal size in cross section, one set of bars formed with bridged apertures and slit to form lugs adapted to be bent to receive and lock the cross members, and the cross members notched on both-edges to receive the portions bridging the openings of theother set of members, whereby the edges of both sets of bars are flush when assembled and locked.
2. Two sets of cross 'jointed bars of equal size in cross-section, one set punched with openings for the passage of intersecting bars, a portion being left on either side to bridge said openings, lugs integral with the bars formed by slitting the metal backward a suitable distance from the openings, and the intersecting bars notched at both of their edges to receive the po tions bridging the openings of the first named members, the lugs of said first named members bent to the plane of their body portion when the cross and intersecting bars are assembled and the portions bridging the openings lodged in the notches of the other member, whereby the said cross bars are interlocke 3.
