Be it known that I, SOLOMON RoseNBLUM, a subject of the Russian Emperor, residing at Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Repair- Tips for Shoes, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.

This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in repair tips for shoes, and has for its object to provide, as a new article of manufacture, a complete repair tip including a sole and cap ready for attachment to the toe of a shoe to be repaired.

A further object of the invention is to provide a repair tip which will materially facilitate the work of repairing a shoe, saving the work of shaping and piecing together the various parts, enabling the production of a neater piece of work, and permitting of the repair of shoes having badly damaged tips which otherwise would be practically impossible of repair.

Briefly described, the invention comprises a repair tip which is designed to be sold as a complete article of manufacture, and is adapted to be used by the removal of the damaged shoe tip and the substitution therefor of the repair tip, means being provided for permitting the attachment of the substituted tip securely to the shoe, and the latter having the appearance when so repaired as of practically a new shoe.

The invention resides in the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more specifically described and then particularly claimed, and in describing the invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawing forming a part of this application, and wherein like numerals of reference will be employed for indicating like parts throughout the different views of the drawing, in which Figure 1, is a top plan view of a shoe re pair tip constructed in acordance with my invention, and showing the same applied to a shoe, the latter being in dotted lines, Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional view of the repair tip of the form shown in Fig. 1, Fig. 3 is a horizontal sectional view of the same, the section being taken on line 3-3 of Fig. 2.

In the form of construction shown in the drawing, the repair tip comprises the toecap 10, the toe-box 11, a repair half-sole 12,

a welt 14, and an extension or extensions 15 projecting rearwardly from under the toe cap for some distance to provide means for securely connecting the repair tip with the vamp of a shoe 16.

The repair tip may be constructed without the box 11 if desired, but it is generally employed, and is made to fit with the toe-cap in the usual manner. The toe-cap has its lower edges turned in as at 17 to lie upon the half-sole 12 in the usual manner of constructing the tip of a shoe, and the lower edges of the extensions 15 are similarly turned in so as to lie upon the half sole as shown. The turned in edge of the box lies upon the turned in edge of the toe-cap and the welt 1 1 lies upon these turned in edges, and has its ends partially overlying the inturned edges 18 of the extensions 15; the parts are then firmly secured together in the thus completed form of the repair tip by means of clench-nails 19, pegs or stitching as may-be desired. The free edges 20 of the extensions 15 are sewed to the vamp of the shoe 16 when the tip is placed in position.

To utilize the repair tip above described, the worn or damaged tip of the shoe to be repaired is removed, along with the halfsole of the shoe, leaving the original inner sole of the shoe intact, the repair tip then placed in position, and firmly secured by nails, pegs or sewing. Obviously, where it is the tip alone that needs repairing on the shoe, the half sole may be omitted, and the original half sole of the shoe employed in lieu of the half sole shown in this construction as being a part of the repair tip.

Repair tips as above described are adapted particularly for the repairing of childrens shoes, though of course the invention is not confined to use on this class of shoes, and as a new article of manufacture, are made in different sizes so that the repairer may have a tip which will fit the shoe to be repaired.

While herein described and illustrated in detail in a preferred embodiment of the in vention as it has been practiced by me, yet it will be evident to those skilled in the art that various slight changes may be made in the details of construction without departing from the general spirit of the invention or the scope thereof as herein claimed.

Having fully described my invention, what I claim is As a new article of manufacture, a repair tip for shoes, comprising a toe-cap having the said extensions having inturned lower edges resting on the sole and overlapped at their inner ends by the ends of the welt, the free edges of said extensions adapted to be 15 secured to the upper of the shoe to which the repair tip is applied.
