Description
H. F. SIEGEL.
SAFETY LOOK FOR TBIGGERS.
APPLICATION nun we. 21, 1910.

WITNESSES INVENTOR UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HERMAN F. SIEGEL, 0F BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.
SAFETY-LOCK FOR TRIGGERS.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HERMAN F. SIEGEL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Safety-Locks for Triggers, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to looks to prevent the accidental discharge of fire arms and consists of a bolt which is adapted to be thrown back of the trigger to prevent its movement. The bolt to be locked in this position until released and thrown back, as will be more fully described in the following specification, set forth in the claims and illustrated in the drawings, wherein:
Figure 1 is a side view of a revolver provided with the improved safety device. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional view through the bolt.
In consequence of the numerous accidents resulting from the use of fire arms by irresponsible parties such as children, it is generally considered dangerous to permit them to remain in places where these irresponsible children may have access to them and consequently fire arms are, when needed mostly, rarely to be found and in order to prevent the use of same by parties not acquainted with the method of unlocking and rendering the trigger operative, a bolt 5 is provided and adapted to play immediately back of the trigger 6 so as to arrest its movement in the act of firing pistols. The bolt 5 is carried in a tube 7 which may be riveted to the trigger guard 8 by means of the ears 9, the guard being perforated for Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed August 27, 1910.
Patented Apr. 18, 1911.
Serial No. 579,256.
the passage of the bolt and the tube 7 may be fitted in an opening in the frame of the handle to brace it and to allow the bolt to play backward toward the interior of the handle itself.
Normally the bolt is drawn backward by means of a spring 10 secured to the screw 11 but it may be thrown forward into the position shown in Fig. 1 and the knob 12 thrown downward into the forward angular portion of a slot 13 where it is held so as to prevent the rear movement of the trigger. When it is desired to throw the bolt backward, the knob 12 is thrown upward into the angular extension 14 and the movement of the trigger permitted.
What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. In a safety lock for triggers, the combination with a trigger guard, of a slotted tube, a bolt playing in the tube, a knob on the bolt and working through the slot, and a spring at the rear end of the bolt.
2. In a safety lock for triggers, the combination with the trigger guard, of a tube secured thereto and having a slot with angular extensions, a bolt playing in the tube, a knob playing in the slot and its angular eX- tensions and a spring at the rear end of the bolt.
In testimony whereof I aifiX my signature in presence of two witnesses.
HERMAN F. SIEGEL.
