To all 'whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HEINRICH D iiEwELL, subject of the German Emperor, residing at Charlottenburg, Germany7 have invented.
i 970,694, dated September th, 1910` I have described a device by means of which, when Setting typo by means of register bands any errors can 'be made inoperative. when making the band, definite groupsot holes in the band, which represent lines, words or individual characters, being made inoperative. In this arrangement the type space indicating device must be correctly setin eat-li rase, which operation is effected by the paper carriage. ofthe typewriter connected with the band perforatingdevice being moved backward. As the feed of the paper carriage corresponds exactly .with the width 'of the printed letter to be set, every optional group of characters can be made inoperative` the position of the paper carriage or the written line indicating' the correct length to be adjusted. The composer, however, who is making the band must pay considerable attention to the adjustment of the paper carriage j, in the event of its not returning into the position for beginning a line.
