Be it known that I, CHARLES J. NAUEN, a subject of the EmI-peror of Germany residirg in Paterson, assaic county, and State o New Jersey, have invented certain new 4and useful Improvements in Needle-Looms; and I do hereby declare the following to be a' full, clear, and exact description of the invention, suchaswill enable others skilled view ofwhat'appear's in-Fig.

This invention relates to looms lof the s0- called needle loom type and it consists in certain improvements therein having for their objects to simplify the construction and render the operations involved more certain and uniform and, in' general, to provide a loom in which' an improved quality of fabric may be woven without vincreasing the cost of manufacture. Operation: The hatten is reciprocated in the usual manner from the crank-shaft d, the reed beating up the filling upon each forward movement of the hatten and the shed opening thereof. To this end the shaft 25 rotates at one-half of the speed of the shaft d, the result of which is that every other time the .hatten moves back one or the otler of the sets 'of needles 1 and 5 moves into-and out of the sheds and that, during every other cycle of movement of the batten, one or the other of quickly rises opposite relaneedles 25, occurring asthe camand this dwell being followed by the slow downward movement of the needles 24 (or 24'), due to the,

1. In a needle loom, the combination of the frame, the batten, two .filling carrying needles, oppositely movable separate supporting members for said needles each movable longitudinally right loop-holdin needles respectively coacting with the fil ing carryin needles, separate supportin members or the loopholding needles ]0urnaled on the same axis parallell with the paths of movement of the needle supporting members, vmeans for recprocating the batten, means for alternately thelling carrying needles and means for alternately oscillatln the supporting members for the loop-ho ding needles, substantiallyI as described.
2. In a' loom, the combination of the of the batten, two upsupporting members for frame, thel batten, filling carrying needles, two oppositely movable separate sup orting. members for said needles each mora le longitudinally of the batten, two upright loopholding needles respectively coacting with the lling carrying needles, a rock-shaft journaied in the batten parallel with the paths of movementv of said supporting members, a crank journaled on said sha t,' supporting members for the loop-holding needies respectively carrie by the rock-shaft and crank, means for reciprocating the batten, means for alternately reciprocating `the supporting members for the filling carrylng needles and means for alternately oscillating the rock-shaft and said crank, substantially as described.
