To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES E. VV. AROHER, a subject of the King of Great Britain, re-
siding at Port of Spain, Trinidad, British West Indies, have' invented new and useful Improvements in Non-Refillable Bottles, of which the following is a specification.-
This invention relates to non-refillable bottles designed to contain perfume, toilet preparations, powders or other material, and one of the principal objects of the same is to provide reliable and eiiicient means whereby the discharge orifice of the material may be opened or closed and in which after the original contents of the bottle have been used the bottle cannot beagain filled.
Another object of the invention is to -providea non-refillable bottle in which the bot tle proper is formed of a shape to provide two separate and distinct compartments, one of said compartments having a neck in which isfitted a valve and a stopper, said stopper being provided with discharge orifices and a cover which may be rotated to open and" close the orifices, said valve and eover'bemg connected to the mouth of the bottle in a -manner to prevent refillingofthe same after .the original contents have been exhausted.

Fitted into the upper end of the neck is a stopper 18 preferably formed of glass or I other vitreous'material, said stop-per being provided with'exterior screw threads 19 to engage the screw threads 17 at the upper end of the neck. with a surrounding head 20, and to hold the stopperin place in the bottle neck headless screws 21 extend through the neck and through the threaded portion of the stopper, said screws terminating flush with the outer and inner Walls of the neck andstopper.
The stopper 18 is provided with a curved or dome shaped top 22 having a central opening 23 and a series of perforations 2 L at one side thereof. A'cap 25 provided with a central perforated boss 26 and a cut-away portion 27 is placed upon the top or dome 22 of the stopper with the cut-away portion coincident with the perforations 24 in said stopper. Superposed upon the'cap 25 is a cover 28having a recess 29, a central opening 30 and a peripheral head 31, said cover being fitted upon the cap 25 with the peripheral bead 31 engaging the bead 20 of the stopper and arranged thereon to bring the recess 29 .into coincidence with the perforations 24C in the stopper. For holding the cover 28 in place a metal collar 32 is provided, said collar having an interiorly grooved bead 33 upon its upper edge, said bead inclosing the head 31 in the cover 28 andthe sleeve 32 .surrounding the bottle neck and covering the rotation in the bottle neck. Extending through the central opening 30 in the coverand through the opening a in the boss 26 and through the opening 23 in the stopper 22 is a valve stem 34, said screws 21. which secure the stopper against valve stem having a washer or shoulder35 to bear upon the upper side of the stopper 22, and said stem-having an enlarged upper portion 36 which terminates in a milled button or head 37 for convenient operation of the stem, said head being secured't-o the stem by means of a screw38, and said stein being connected to the boss 26 by a' screw or pin 89 extending through the boss 26 and through said enlarged portion 36 of the stem. The lower end of the stem is provided i with an enlarged portion 40 having a threaded end and'fitted with a nut 41. A valve seat- 42 comprising a disk having oppositely disposed openings 43 therethrough and an extended hub or boss 44 is connected inside the stopper 22 by peripheralscrew threads engaging similar threads formed in the interior wall of the lower end of the stopper. The enlarged portion 40 of the stem extends through a central opening 45 in th lve seat, and the nut 41 is fitted upon the end of said stem to hold the'parts in adjusted position.

contents of the bottle may be dispensed through the discharge perforations 24 after the cap 25 has been rotated to bring the opening 27 into coincidence with the cut away portion 29 of the cover 28 and the perforations 24 in the stopper. WVhen not in use, the cap 25 is rotated to close the discharge opening in the stopper and to prevent escape of volatile liquids or the deterioration of the contents. When it is desired to dispense the liquid or powder in the containeryby rotating the cap 25 to expose the discharge openings 2-4:,the bottle is tilted and the contents passed through the openings 43 in the valve seat, and the valve 46 is moved away from the seat upon one side to-permit the liquid orpowder' to' pass through the open:

2. A non-refillable bottle or container compris nganeck, a stopper secured in said neck and provided with discharge perform tions, a rotatable cap, a stem connected thereto, a valve seat inthe stopper, and a valve provided withprojecting fingers andan enlarged central opening.

In a non-refillable bottle, the combination of a stopper; rigidly secured at the mouth of the neck of the bottle and provided with discharge perforations, a cap mounted to rotate upon the stopper to cover the perforations and to expose the same for discharging the contents 'of said bottle, a valve seat withln the stopper, and a valve having projecting fingers and a central opening, said valve being loosely mounted within the stopper to drop by gravity to itsseat and to move to a position to dischargethe contents ivhen the bottle is tilted.
