APPLIOATION FILED AUG. so, 1909.

Will/lIllia/111111111101111 ili GAG MONROE LEE, OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS.
RAZOR-STRG?.
To all whom it may concern.'
Be it known that I, MONROE LEE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Little Rock, in the county of Pulaski, State of Arkansas, have invented certain new and useful lmprovements in RaZor-Strops; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which itappertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to razor strops.
The object of the invention is to provide a new and improved razor strop which gives a blade a keen cutting edge and to this end comprises a razor strop having its stropping face formed of a plurality of rises and depressions so arranged that when the razor passes over said face a series of independent chambers will be successively formed, the razor blade constituting one w'all of the chamber and the raised and depressed surface of the strop constituting the other wall. By this construction a suction is created beneath the razor blade and same is drawn rmly against the strop and the quality of the edge produced on the razorenhanced.
Vith the above and other objects in view the invention consists in the details of construction to be hereinafter more fully set forth and pointed out in the claim.
In describing the invention in detail reference will be had to the accompanying drawing wherein like characters of reference denote corresponding parts in the several views, and in which,
Figure l is a plan view of the strop; Fig. 2, a section on the line afa of Fig. l, Fig. 3, a section on the line b-b of Fig. l.
Referring to the drawing 1 indicates the Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed August 30, 1909.
Patented Mar. 7, i911. serial no. 515,319.
strip of leather of which the strop is constructed, having the front stropping face 2. Upon said stropping face is produced a plurality of transversely disposed arcuate rises 3 and transversely disposed depressions Ll. Each of said rises and depressions are terminated within the longitudinal edges of the strop so that the portion of the upper face of the strop which is in'nnediately adjacent said longitudinal edges will constitute an uninterrupted flat surface. It will thus be obvious that by reason of the construction just described that a plurality of depressions will be formed in the front face of said strop which will serve to produce etlicient suction chambers beneath the blade of the razor as same is passed thereovcr and cause said blade to be drawn more firmly against the strop and produce a cut-ting edge of great keenness. lt will also be apparent that the flat smooth surface at the longitudinal edges of the strop serve to support the razor blade and prevent complete conformity of the blade with the intermediate undulatory surface of the strop and thereby prolongs the life of the strop.
What is claimed is A razor strop having a central longitudinally extending undulatory stropping surface and a smooth blade supporting surface extending continuously of each longitudinal edge thereof whereby complete conformity of the blade to the undulations is prevented.
In testimony whereof, I afhx my signature, in presence of two witnesses.
MONROE LEE.
