Specification of Letters Patent.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, THOMAS S. O. Brinxis,

a citizen of the United States, residing at Rochester, in the county of Fulton and State of Indiana, have invented a new and useful Fumigating-Roost; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same' The invention relates to a device designed for a roost or perch for chickens, turkeys and other kinds of domestic fowls and has for its objectto provide an improved device of this'character containing means for eradicating lice and other injurious vermin to which domestic fowls are subject.

Another object of the invention is to provide a device of this character having a drainage system connected thereto.

lVith these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel construction and arrangement of parts hereinafter described and shown and particularly pointed out in the appended claim.

In the drawings forming part of this specification and in which like numerals of reference indicate like parts throughout the several views, Figure l is a perspective view of a chicken roost constructed in accordance with this invention. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the drainage system, showing the same detached. Fig. 3 is a vertical sectional view through one of the supporting legs. Fig. 4 is a horizontal sectional view taken through the device. Fig. 5 is a longitudinal sectional view through one of the transverse members 5 and the plate 5*.

Referring to the drawings, 1 designates the four arcuate corner pieces which are connected together by end members 2 and side members 3 and 4. The members 3 and 4 are hollow, as shown in Fig. 4, and have communicating pipes or tubes 5. One of the corner pieces, has connected thereto the vertical pipe 6, which is fed by a tank 7. The pipe 6 is provided with a cut-off 8, by which the flow of the oil or contents of the tank is regulated.

As soon as the tank 7 is supplied with oil, the same is communicated to the cross piece 3 which supplies the pipes 5 and the other frame member 4, as will be readily understood. The transverse members 5 are provided with a plurality of wicks 9 which transmit the oil fumes from this device to the fowls which cause the death of the lice or other vermin with which the fowls may be infected. Immediately below the frame of this device is a drainage system consisting of drainage plates 5 one of which is arranged under each of the pipes 5 and are connected with and emptied into a larger pipe 3 which is arranged beneath the pipe 3, as will be readily understood. By this means, the oil or other contents of the device can be collected as it escapes into the drainage pipe 3*.

The two end members of the frame designated by the numeral 2 are provided with metallic straps or members 2 These metallic straps or members have their free ends, as shown in Fig. 3, shaped into the form of sockets 2 which are designed to receive suitable legs or supports 2, as will be clearly understood.

Having thus described the invention, what I claim is- In combination with an oil distributing device for hen roosts, comprising parallel distributing members and connecting conduit means, a drip catching device consisting of a plurality of parallel fluid receiving concave members disposed beneath the distributing members, a concave pan disposed at right angles to said concave members and formed integrally therewith, said concave members being'inclined downwardly so as to cause the collected fluid to flow into the concave pan.
