Be it known that I, BERNARD MORGAN, a subject of the King of Great Britain, and aresident of Newport, in the county of New port and State of Rhode Island, have invented a new and Improved Test or Priming Cock, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
The invention relates to internal combus tion engines, and its object is to provide a new and improved test or priming cock, arranged to permit convenient delivery of a quantity of gasolene or other explosive fluid into the combustion chamber of an internal cmnbustion engine for testing or priming purposes, and subsequent closing of the cock to prevent escape of the'products of combustion by way of the cock.
For the purpose mentioned use is made of screw plugs, one screwing aXially in the other, the outer plug being fixed in the engine cylinder, and one of the plugs haw ing a reservoir for containing the explosive fluid and an outlet for discharging the said fluid into the bore of the fixed plug, for 'delivery to the combustion chamber of the engine.
A practical embodiment of the invention is represented in the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the views.

The test or priming cock consists essentially of two plugs A and B, of which the plug A is provided with a threaded shank A screwing in the top of the cylinder C as The plug B if, the closing plug and screws axiallv in 12.x? fixed or cylinder plug A, and the closing plug B is provided with handles 1), for conveniently turning the closing plug, so as to screw the same axially up or down in the cylinder plug A according to the direct ion in which the closing plug B is turned. with an integral valve E, adapted to be seated on the valve seat F formed in the cylinder plug A and leading to the bore thereof, as plainly indicated in Figs. 3 and 6. Thus when the closing plug B is screwed downward, the valve E is seated on the valve seat F, to close the cock, and when the closing plug B is unscrewed, the valve E moves oil the seat F, to open the cock, as hereinafter more fully explained.
' A reservoir G is provided for containing a fluid, such as gosolene or the like, to be delivered into the cylinder 0, for testing or priming purposes, and this reservoir may been either of the two plugs A or B. As shown in Figs. 1, 2, 3 and 4, the reservoir G is formed on the closing plug B and has a bottom extension G leading to a port G extending to the outer face of the valve E, so that when the closing plug B is in the closed position shown in Fig. 3, then gasolene or other explosive fluid can be poured into the reservoir to fill the same. When this has been done, the operator unscrews the closing plug 13, to move the valve E off its seat F, thus uncovering the outer end ot'the port G and allowing the gasolene to flow out of the reservoir G, by way of the port G into the lower portion of the bore or plug A, to finally pass into the cylinder 0 for testing or priming purposes. As soon the fluid has been discharged from the reservoir G, the operator turns the closing plug B in the opposite direction, to move the valve E back onto the seat F, thus closing escape of the fluid from the cylinder by way 01 the test or priming plug, and hence the products of combustion in the cylinder cannot escape by way of the priming plug. It will also be noticed that when the closing plug B is returned to closing position after it has been emptied, it is again in position to be filled with another charge of gasolene.
As illustrated in Figs. 5 and 6, the reser- Voir Gr is formed on the upper end of the cylinder plug A, and from the bottom of the reservoir G leads a port G to the bore of the plug A, preferably at a point above the valve seat F. The closing plug B in this case is solid, and when in a closed;position, as shown in Fig. 6, the fiuid'poured into the reservoir (1 is retained therein until the operator unscrews the cloning plug B, so that the lower end of the port G becomes uncovered and the fluid contained in the res ervoir G can flow out of the same {and into screwed downward, to reengage the valve E with the seat F, thus closing the port iv and allowing refilling of the reservoir G whenever it is again desired to pass another priming charge into the cylinder.
The test or priming cock shown and de-. ,scribed is very simple and durable in con struction, and composed of comparatively few parts, not liable easily to get out of order.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. A test or priming cock, comprising screw plugs, one screwing axially in the other and provided 'at its outer end with means for turning the same, the outer plug being fixed 0n the engine cylinder and having a valve seat, and the inner plug having an integral valveat its inner end for engaging said valve seat, one of the plugs having a reservoir for containing the explosive fluid, and an outlet leading from the reservoir and adapted when the valve is unseated to discharge the fluid into the bore of the fixed plug for delivery to the combustion chamer of the engine.
2. A test or priming cock, comprising a cylinder plug having a seat, and a closin plug screwing in the said cylinder plug an adapted tobe seated on the said seat to close the 'cylinder plug, one of the plugs 7 having a reservoir for the explosive fluid, 5
and an outlet port leading from t-he'bot-tom of the reservoir to discharge the fluid into the cylinder plug on unseating the said closi 'ig plug.
3. A test or priming cock for internal 40 combustion engines, comprising a cylinder plug having a threaded stem for screwing into the cylinder of the engine,- a valve seat, and a closing plug screwing in the said cylinder plug and having a valve adaptede to be seated on the said seat, and a reservoir formed on the said closing plug and having in its bottom an outlet port leading to the outer face of the said valve to discharge the contents of the reservoir into the said cylin- 5 der plug. a
