To all whom it may concern.'

Be it kn'own that I, FRANK R, Lewis, citizen of the United States, residing at Reno, in the county of Washoe and State of 5 Nevada, have invented newand useful I mprovements in Revolver-Holsters, 'of which the following is a specification. This invention relates to holsters for firearms, and is especially designed for theuse of the police and other service required to carry a weapon.

The object of my invention is to so construct a revolver holster that it will permit of the instantaneouswithdrawal of the 1.5 weapon in case of emergency, and which is light and convenient, and adapted to be worn under the coat, 'ust under and a little in front of the arm, supported by a sling or harness attachment which passes over both shoulders, crossing on the back, without showing in front when coat is worn'; or the device may be Worn as an ordinary belt holster. The invention consists of the parts and the construction and combination of parts as hereinafter more fully described and claimed, having reference to the accompanying drawings, in whichz- Figure 1- shows the device applied.

The general form of my holster A is similar to that offan ordinary belt holster, but instead of being stitched up along its longitudinal edge it is left open, or slit, as at 2, down to within about `an inch of the muzzle, having a cap or stop 3 suitably secured n the tip orbottom of the holster,

The holsteris adapted to'be carried on a special sling or harness, as follows: Secured to the holster A are upper and lower rings 10, 11, adapted to receive the respective ends of a pair of straps 14, 15, which latter cross in the back and pass over both shoulders without showing in front when a coat is worn. or to a suspender button by means of the cast-off 18. The other end of the strap or web 15' is brought'over the right shoulder from in front, and down across the back and under the left arm and attached to the holster. The other strap 14 being attached to the cast-o 18 at 17 under the right arm,vis brought up across the back and over the left shoulder and down the front and attached to the upper ring 10. The belt is then passed through one of the belt straps in the holster, or by means of one of the button holes 9 in the belt straps on the holster is held in the position desired.

The holster may be worn on thefbelt as strap on the holster should lbe placed behind a belt strap on the trousers, or buttoned to the trousersto hold against the side pull.A

The application of the ldevice is as follows: lAssuming that thestraps 14, 15 have been properly secured to their respective rings 10,11 on the holster A, the user passes his left arm through ythe loops formed by the harness, draws the same over his back, and connects-the cast-off 18 to the belt, or

to a button, as shown at 19. rlhis brings the holster to a vertical position a little in front of his left side and within easy reach of his' right hand, so that he has simply to grasp the handle or butt of the revolver, and instead of lifting it from the holster he has only to jerlcit .out with a swing'in the direction desired, thus the drawing and pointing of the weapon are accomplished with one and the same swinging movement.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is l.
