which the writing point consists of a ballmounted so as to rotate and in contact with the writing material in the interlor of the cap in which it is mounted. In accordance with the present invention, the Writing ball is mounted in contact with a second ball which is carried on a pillar arranged in the center of the space within the cap and connected with a disk which bridges over the end of the reservoir and is perforated so as to permit the powdered writing material to pass from the reservoir into the interior of the cap and come in contact with the two balls.

The invention will be further described with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which,

The body portion 10 of the implement forms a reservoir for the writing material and is closed at one end by the block 1 which is preferably removable for the purpose of charging the, reservoir when required. At the other end, the reservoir carries a screw cap, 11 which holds the writing ball 13 in position. This latter is mounted above a second ball 14 which is carried in a cup shaped socket in the end of a pin 12 attached to a disk 15 which is perforated as shown in Fig. 2. These perforations permit the passage of the powdered lead or other material which by this means finds its way down between the two balls and colors the outer one which when in use rotates and applies the writing material to the paper.

Reservoir writing implements having rotary ball points have been previously proposed for use with writing material in liquid form and in this connection it has been suggested that the writing ball be mounted on a number of other balls arranged within the end of the implement. As distinguishing from this proposed arrangement, it should be pointed out that in the present case a single ball for supporting the writingball is employed and this is carried on' a central support which allows ample space within the end of the implement for the powdered writing material to pass down to the contact surfaces of the balls. This arrangement also has the advantage as compared with the previously suggested device of permitting the use of a comparatively small writing ball instead of the large ball proposed in the earlier arrangement.

I declare that what I claim is 1. A writing implement comprising in combination a reservoir for powdered writing material, a writing head on the outer end of said reservoir comprising a perforated member extending across the end of the res ervoir, a pin mounted on said member and having a socket in its outer end, a ball in said socket, a second ball in contact with said first ball and an adjustable perforated cap fitting over said second ball.

A writing implement comprising incombination a reservoir for powdered writing material, a writing head on one end of said reservoir comprising a perforated disk mounted on the end of the reservoir and a pin projecting axially from said disk and having a socket in its outer end a ball'in said socket, a second ball in contact with said first ball and a perforated cap attached to the endof the reservoir and fitting over said second ball and holding it in position, said cap lying clear of the said first ball.
