COLOR srnavnn on/msrER sERf Specification Letters Patent. 'Patented Dec, 13, 1910, Application filed April 28,1908. 4 Serial No. 429,612.
peror, and a resident of 13 Wartburg strasse, in the city of Schiineber near erman Em ire, have invented a certain new and use 1 Color Sprayer orgDisperser, of which the following is a specification.
This invention has reference to a color or dye s raying or dispersing device. It has been ound, that when the o eration of the Sprayers, heretofore known, 1s suddenly interrupted, the closing of the valve causes a certain amount of color or dye tobe. still ejected which arrives upon the article to be coated with the color or d e, in an undispersed condition. This dlfliculty is especially inconvenient in the case of producing delicate pieces of work by means of the s .rayer, and this can only be prevented by c osing the valve slowly. When the operator is eagerly at work, this necessity. of y 13 however overlooked in most-cases.
. In accordance with the present invention, it is intended to produce automatically a slowing-up of the closing of the valve by brakin the, movement of the valve.
The rawing illustrates in Figure 1 in section, and in Fig. 2 in side view a sprayer or disperser, embodying my invention, by way of exam le.
,Accor in to this form of execution of the invention t e rod a of the valve, for controlling the delivery of color, is extended rear- 1 ward and is provided with a piston b, slidin in a .cylinder 0 and acted upon by a spring The cylinder 0 is closed on all sides, with the exception of a" small 0 ening e. 'Throu h thisopening the piston aspirates air, w en'the color valve. is opened.- This amount of air can escape only slowly, upon the valves, throu h the small opening 6, so that the closing. 0% the color valve is retarded as a result of the otherwise well-knownbraking action of the air, inclosed in the cylinder 0. The said braking device may of course be connected also to the air valve or to the hand lever, if necessary, or it may be constructed, so as to act as a liquid actuated brake or in any other manner.
suddenly releasing the handle for operating In order to be able to exchange the valve rod for the color delivery valve, the brak ing cylinder is secured in the example shown on the drawing, to the guide 9 for the color valve by means of bayonet connection a, i, so as to be detachable and the cylinder 0 may be unscrewed from its support k which also serves for the mounting of the front cover h, provided with the opening e and the piston may be unscrewed, so as to be detached from the valve rod a.
-What I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is
1. The combination, in a color sprayer or disperser, of an air delivery nozzle cont-ro led by acock a color delivery nozzle rovided with a pm valve, a handle operating the air cock and the color delivery controlling valve, and an automatic braking device braking the movement of the color delivery forth.
2. In a color sprayer or disperser, the com bination of the, valve controllin the delivery'of color with a 'self-returnin piston arran ed on the valve rod and sliding in a cylin or having a small opening, for aspiratin and slowly dischar g air by means of sa1d piston, substantial as set forth.
