IMPROVEMENT IN LAMP-EXTING UISHERS;

The Schedule referred to in these Letters.Patent and making part of the same.

Be it known that 1, WILLIAM I. BUNKER, of Yankton, county of Yankton, and Territory of Dakota, have invented a new and useful Lamp-Light Extinguisher; and I do hereby declare thatthe following is a full and exact description of the construction and operation of the same.

My invention consists in a horizontal slot, a, Figure 1, near the upper end, and-0n one side of the wicktube of a lamp, this slot to be of any required width suitable to the size of the lamp, and extending from one side of the wick-tube to the other. 1

Also, from the upper and outside edge of this slot, I have a metal guard or cap, b, Figures 2 and 3, extending down over the slot, at an angle frorn the tube! This cap and slot are for the purpose of conveying air to the flame, (after the wick is turned down below the slot in the wick-tube,) by which means the flame is extinguished. 7

What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

A slot, a, in the side .of the wick-tube, near the top, with a cap, 1), extending down from the upper edge of the slot, at an an le from the tube, for the purpose of conveying the rising air'to the flame.
