- pieces; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertalns to make and use the same.

The invention relates to mouthpiece attachments for telephones and more particularly to the class of devices for applying sterilizers to mouth pieces of telephones' The primary object of the invention is the provision of a device of this character in which a pad or other absorbent charged wlth a disinfectant or sterilizing substance may be positioned on a telephone mouthpiece to prevent the accumulation of bacteria germs or in other words destroy them therein and thus overcome the spreading of diseases.

Another object: of the invention is the provision of a device of this character which can be readily attached and detached from the mouth piece of a telephone, so that the absorbent charged with sterilized or disinfectant substance may be recharged or removed for replacing the same or the introduction of a new one in its stead.

A still further object of the invention is the provision of a disinfectant device for telephone mouth pieces which may position on the latter an absorbent pad charged with sterilizing substance and in which the holder of the absorbent shall be separable from the mouth piece and also in which the absorbent will be separable from the holder.

lVith these and other objects in View, the invention consists in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts, as will be hereinafter more fully described in detail, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, which disclose the preferred form of embodiment of the invention, to enable those skilled in the art to practice the invention and as pointed out in the claims hereunto appended.

Referring to the drawings by numerals 5 designates a mouth piece which has a screw threaded end 6 which screws into a case 7 as of a telephone or other sound conducting instrument,- the mouth piece being of the ordinary well known construction.

The attachment or device comprises a shell or body 8 the same being outwardly flared or bulged intermediate its inner and outer ends while the outermost end portion forms a straight annular flange 9 provided with a series of orifices or perforations 10, the outer free edge of the flange being rounded as at 10 and disposed about the said flange 9 against its exterior face is a circular shaped absorbent pad 12 the latter being formed preferably of wool. This pad 12 which however may be constructed of any suitable absorbent is saturated or charged with a sterilizing or disinfectant substance that will effectually prevent the accumulation of bacteria germs within the mouth piece 5 or in other words will destroy the life or existence of such germs thus overcoming the spreading of contagious diseases from person to person that are subject to the use of the mouth piece.

It is of course to be understood that the shell 8 and its clamp ing ring 13 may be composed or constructed of any suitable material.
