The deck, or top of the hall is formed by assembling the channel plates or beams 15', with their flanges l6, abuttin as shown in Figs. 1 and 2. By constructing a bull, or compartment, or other structure, in the i'nanner described, it will be obvious the same is extremely economical as it is not necessary to provide a separate super-structure. The flanges or ribs of "the plates 1 and serve to brace the hull, in precisely the same manner as if applied in separate pieces. It may be stated as a fact, that flanges made integral with the plates possess decided advantages over :separate pieces, inasmuch as liability to break or separation between the braces and plates is impossible. Furthermore, the lappingot the plates at points adjacent the flanges or ribs, adds materially to strengthen the structure, and reinforces the flanges.
It will be obvious, i may arrange the plates so that they may overl j) each other in vertical alineiuent, as shown in Fig. 6, rather than in horizontal alinement, as shown in the other figures the drawing.

What I claim is:
