Be it known that I, ADoLPHUs H. Fonsi'- NER, a citizenof the United States, and a resident of Portland,in the countyof Multnomah and State of Oregon,`have invented a new and Improved Oil-Burner, of Which the following is ajull, clear, and exact description.

The coupling 22 is' of usual construction as employed inl connecting tubes. or pipes. of similar character to that specified.
At the outer end rof the tube 20" is con` nected a burne'r fixture 23. Whemiii thepresent. burner, the oil and air ,Y are, received :from'the pipes l0 and 11. tlniy are advanced rapidly past the Wings.y l9l9 of. the supporters 18, and impinge upon the l vspiral'` plate l2. The plate l2, yielding un# dergthe direct 'thrust of the onrushing"` air and oil, rotates ymore or less rapidly asfthe air pressureis yincreased or diminished. The '4 0 oilr is drawn` from the pipe, and when brought in contact with the'rushing air, is, by the air, comminuted. 'After bein com- 'minuted it is carried inthe shape o globf ules into thefmixing chamber formed by the 4.5 pipe section 7, and therein impinges upon .the spiral surface of the plate 12. Upon the plate l2 is thus formed a coating of oil. .In the subsequent and continuous action of the burner, the air, in passing through the spiral channel formed by the plate l2, is brought into intimate contact with the oil at all stages of its passage through thc mixing chamber. The oil impregnated or oil .laden air, after passing from the mixing chamber, enters'the tube 20, where any globules of oil or solid matter are arrested by the eliminating screen 21. Beyond the screen 2l the mixed airand oil, is passed to the cone 28, and through 'the same and the duct 27, to the spreadingislot 26 to be burned.
Having thus described my. invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters 'Patent is y l. An oil burner, comprising a supply pipe; a burner fixture; a mixing chamber interposed between said supply pipe and said burner fixture `to form a comn'umicating passage between the same; an elmlgated spiral member rotatively mounted in said chamber; adjustable bearings for said spiral member; and supports for said bearings having laterally extended wings mounted iu.

An oil burner, comprising separate air and oilsupplies and connecting duets lhercforga mixing chamber therefor; a tube connected to' said mixing chamber and having an eliminating screen across the passage thereof; a bu-rncr fixture having a centrally disposed gas duct; and a metallic conc mounted in said'fixture to be heated thereby.
