HILLIKER, a citizen of the United States, residin at Evanston, in-the county of Cook and tate of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Fruit-Cases, of which the following is a. specification.

This invention embodies certain novel improvements in that t pe of cases or carriers l tlon and on the several figures of the drawshown and describ in my Letters Patent, No. 937805, patented Oct. 26, 1909, and designed especlally for use in the transportation of fruit, or the like.

The objects in the provision of the several improvements hereinafter more fully described are to accomplish a saving of material in the manufacture of the case or carrier, afiord'much greater facilit in putting together the various parts of t e case preparatory to placing the articles tobe shipped therein, and to secure a construction which possesses advantages of especial merit over my previous carrier in respect particularly to the yielding or cushioning manner in which the fruit is retained within the cells or pockets; provided by the construction.

In view of the foregoing it will be a parent that the artitions forming the ce ls in 1 the present orm of fruit receptacle coact with the sides and ends to hold the walls of the latter spaced, but yieldable to afford the desired advantages. The walls of the sides and ends, however, are held spaced by means other than that above set forth, and referring particularly in this connection to Fig. 5 it will be observed that a peculiar corner folding is provided. The outer wall of the end 3 is formed with an end extension 8, and the inner wall of the side 2 overlaps said extension 8 and'itself is. formed with a locking tongue 9 which engages with a slit 10 in the end 3. After the tongue 9 has been interlocked with the end 3 the inner wall of the end is folded over the tongue and said inner wall has a projection 11 at its extremity adapted to be received in a slit 12 at the point where the tongue 9 bends from the side 2. 'By the tongue 9 the walls of the side 2 are held in spaced rotation at the extremities. In other words the manner of connecting the sides and ends of the receptacle at the corners is especially advantageous in that the connecting means increasesthe flexibility of theinner walls, or in otherwords 1'.
