UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
WILLIAM PASSMORE MEEKER, OF MAPLEWOOD, NEW JERSEY.
GLASS TILE.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM PASSMORE Mnnnnn, a citizen of the United States and of the State of New Jersey, residing at Maplewood, Essex county, New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Glass Tiles, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to glass facing tiles having finished faces upon one side and suitable securing means upon the other side, and consists in the particulars hereinafter set forth.
In the drawings Figures 1 and 2 are respectively front and back Views of the tile.
Similar letters of reference designate similar parts in both the figures.
My improved tiles are provided upon their backs with outwardly inclined holding lugs as shown near their upper edges in the drawings, and with hook-like lugs, 70 70 near their opposite edges. Each of these hook-like lugs 70 k is inclined alternately in opposite directions, its base being inclined to one side of a line perpendicular tothe back of the tile, and, preferably, parallel to the lug near the opposite edge of the tile,

while its top portion is disposed at an angle to said base portion and inclined to the opposite side of said perpendicular line, so that these hook-lugs 70 70 will be positively locked in place in the cement backing to which the tile may be applied, both by their own form and by the divergent disposition of the lugs upon the opposite edge of the tile, while their thin and flat characteristics give the advantage of allowing adjustment of the cement past them in the process of setting.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is A glass facing tile provided upon its back with an integral lug having a base portion inclined to one side of a line perpendicular to the back of the tile, and a top portion disposed at an angle to said base portion and inclined to the, opposite side of said perpendicular line.
