The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same To all whom it may concern:

`Be it known that I, ALEXANDER INcLrs, of Indianapolis, in the county of Marion, and State of Indiana, have invented new and useful Improvements in Locks; and `I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, that will.

toclose the outside key-hole, andl prevent the `insertion of key therein.

Eigurel is a View of the interior of the lock, obtained by removing one of the side-plates.

Figure 2 is a horizontal section on line :t 1, fig. 1.

Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the several figures.

A is the case, and B the/latch, constructed, arranged, and-operated in the usual manner.

C is the bolt, made with three notches on its upper edge, with which the catch i, of the tumbler D,'en

' gages,to hold the bolt, the' tum-bier being constructed and arranged to operate in the usual manner.

The under side oil the bolt is also provided with three notches, arranged with reference to the two keyholes, g and 7L, the latter being for the outside, and in indicated in dotted lines.

A downward-priecting guard, I, is attached to or forms a part of the bolt, and is 'arranged so that when the bolt is thrust forward, by twice turning the key, or double-locking it, the guard I is .brought opposite the outside key-holen, thereby preventing the key from being inserted from the outside.

`When vthe bolt G. is thrust out bythe key, operated from the inside of the lo'ck but once, it may be operated from the outside, whether the key is in the lock or not; but when it is desired to prevent the -lock from' being operated from the outside, the bolt is thrustfor ward twice, as'stated above. y

The form and construction of the several parts of the lock are such-that few pieces are required, and they are such as to be easily cast; hence, the lock cau be made in the cheapest. and simplest form.

What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters '1)atent, is-

The combination, with the separate key-holes g aud 71., of' the-bolt C, with three notches ou its upper and lower edges, guard I, tumblerD, and spring f, whereby the bolt may be thrown out by one-turn of the inside key, the door locked, and the outside key-hole left open, and by two turns of said inside key, the outside key-hole may beclosed, all substantially as specitied. V
