WATER-CLOSET.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, GEoRG \VAOHENFELD, a subject of the German Emperor, and resident of 9 Lindenstrasse, Bad Nauheim, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in and Relating to VVater- Closets, of which the following is a specification.

My present invention relates to waterclosets and serves to replace the very unreliable float valve ordinarily used in waterclosets.

In the accompanying drawing in which I have illustrated my invention like letters of reference refer to like parts throughout the different views.

Figure 1 shows a longitudinal section according to line AA of Fig. 2 and Fig. 2 shows a plan view of a water-closet.

A collecting receptacle 3 is rotatively mounted on a shaft 4 in an outer receptacle 1. 2 refers to the exit pipe of the outer receptacle. Fixed on the shaft 4 is the double armed lever 5 the one arm of which carries a counter weight 6 which permits the regulation of the gravity of the filled collecting receptacle. Attached to the quadrant like bow of the lever 5 is a cord or chain 8 running over a roller 9 and ending in a handle. The roller 9 cooperates with a valve inserted into the water pipe 13, the prolongation of which is a bent pipe ending inside the collecting receptacle. In order to prevent the sudden opening and closing of the valve which could cause a dif ferent filling of the receptacle I connect the roller 9 with a smaller roller 11 by means of a cord or chain 10. The shaft 'of the smaller roller carries a fly wheel 12 which permits only a gradual opening of the valve.

The operation of the device is as follows :I first pull down the cord 8 so that the inner collecting receptacle is turned about a right angle and consequently emp- Specification of Letters Patent.

tied. The water runs into the receptacle 1 and from there into the exit pipe 2 and to the closet. At the tilting of the receptacle 3 the valve of the water conduit 13 is simultaneously opened and while the receptacle slowly returns by means of its own weight into its original position it is again filled with water. The filling of the receptacle ends when the receptacle has located itself in its first position limited by the stop 7. The valve is then completely closed.

What I claim as new and desire to secure by a United States Letters Patent is z- 1. In a water closet the combination of a receptacle, having an exit pipe, a second receptacle rotatively mounted inside said first receptacle, a pulling device adapted to tilt the inner receptacle, a fly wheel cooperating with said pulling device, a water feeding pipe feeding the water into the inner receptacle, a valve inserted into said pipe and operated by the said pulling device substantially as described and for the purpose set forth.

2. In a water closet the combination of a receptacle, a shaft, a second receptacle rotatively mounted on said shaft inside said first receptacle, a quadrant like double armed lever mounted on the same shaft, a weightfixed to the onearm of said lever, a pulling device attached to the other quadrant like arm of said lever adapted to tilt the inner receptacle, a fly wheel cooperating with said pulling device, a water feeding pipe feeding the water into said inner receptacle and a valve operated by the said pulling device substantially as described and for the purpose set forth.
