of which the following is a specification.
My'invention relates to evaporating apparatus, and consists of means or feeding the tubes of that class of evaporators in which concentration is effected by movement of the liquid in an upward direction in a series of suitable externally heated tubes.
My invention is fully shown in the accompanying drawings, in which: i

In the evaporation ofllquids in the class of evaporators referred to whena super heated liquid is fed to the bottom of one set of tubes, 1t, under oes a. fall in temperature, with a c'onsequentarge production of vapor. Unless means are provided for ,taking care of such vapor, there is danger `of the liquid feeding unevenly to-the tubes; and the object of my invention is'to provide means that will insure to the greatest extent possible, a uniform feed of such liquid to each tube; a further object being to provide a construction that will permit readyexamination of.

In Fig. 1, 1 ,represents the shell or casing of an evaporator, and 2 a suitable annular member, which may be a casting, at the bottom of the same, to which such shell is secured. A plate 3, secured to the underside of said member 2 formsthe bottom of the steam chamber'and such plate is apcrtured for the reception of tubes 4, which pass through said plate; their lower ends cxtendingbelow the plate.

I claim:

In a vertical' lube evaporator, the combination of ashell or casing, an annularl member secmfed to the betteln of the same, said member having an inlet and. forming a chamber for the reception 0f the liquid under treatment, a, plate carried by said4 member, tubesearried by said plate and rojecting below the same into said cham er, an annular wall secured to saidmember lar erin diameter than the area occupied by sai tubes, and a bottom plate for said wall, the latter with said Wall orming a Well into which the tubes dip.
