MADISON, WISCONSIN, ASSIGNOR ONE'- JORDAN, OF4 MADISON, -WISCONSIN.
ELEVATD CARRYING SYSTEM.
To all lwhom 'it may concern: v
Be it known that I, JOHN N. ANDERSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Madison, inthe county ofDane and State of Wisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements :in Elevated Carrying Systems, of which the following is a speci- Iication. v s My invention relates to elevated carrying systems, useful for any number pf purposes, such as, for instance, conveying manure from a stable, and my object is to provide.
an improved structure as regards certain parts of the system whereby the system asa whole may be made to operate' better and in a more convenient manner.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is' a section through a stable building illus-l 'trating the practical application of it system embodying my improvements. Fig. 2 is a face view'of the inner supporting post .and the parts carried thereby. Fig. 3 is a simllar viewof -the outer post andthe parts carthe carrier removed,V A
Ip ,the practical-embodiment of my ideas,
ried thereby. Fig. 41s a perspective view of ovide inner and outer supporting posts l() and 11, the former being, most probably,
one ot' the uprights of a building, for iu stance, a stable, and the latter being suitlably ,anchored outside the building. Each the trollley-wire 15 will, by gravity, descend to the `inner supporting post. 10. The bracket 12 of the supporting post 11 also has a pulley 16 journaled therein, while bracketl l2 of ,the inner supporting post 10 has a pair of pulleys 17 and 18.
Moimted upon the inner postv 10, and securely bolted thereto below the bracket 12, is a metal plate 19, having an outstanding bolt, upon which is a power wheel 2G, having a crank 27, by which it may. be'manually rotated. The traction cable 3,1 isdoubled about| the power wheel 26, and its portions passed separately over 'pulleys 17 and 18 l Specification of Letters Patent.v Application filed November 17, .1909. and one of said portions being continued over and about the pulley 16 of the outer post 11, the ends of said cable being secugedl .f
to the4 roller brackets 32 upstanding from n .the carrier frame 33 andsup orting rollers 34. The frame 33 is substant1al1-y U-shaped, and its lower extensions are inturned and revolubly connected to the lower centralportion of the bucket 35 so that the latter will,
when free, rotate to dump its contents.
' Mounted through arcades of frame 3a and parallel above bucket 35, is a longitudi` nally movable trip shaft 36 havingan en- .larged end 37 atone end, and threaded adjacent its opposite end to receivel a Anut 38. Adjacent its enlarged end 37, shaft36-p SSes through the upper end of alever 39; "termediately p1voted uponlthe-adjacent v'side i of frame 33, while said shafty passes alsothrough the upper end of a lever 40, located. between nut 38 and the opposite' side of, said frame, and held against said nut by a pring 41 coiled .about said shaft and compressed. between the same and said latter frame side, thus forcing shaft 3 6 longitudinally and the lower ends of levers 39 and Adjacent its upper edge bucket 35 has slotted blocks 42, into th e slots of which the lower ends of levers 39 and 40 engage to hold said bucket 35 upright."-
The outer post 11,-4 below its bracket 12,-
block .43 bolted thereto in the of the trip. shaft 36,'whereby has a sto direct pat when the carrier is drawn. outwardly,"
loaded, by rotatin power wheel 26 lin the proper direction, t e enlarged end of shaft 36 .will strike the said stop block as the carrier arrives at saidshaft longitu mally, withdrawing the lower ends of levers 39 and 40, and permitting' the bucket to rotate`- and dump,
l. In a system of the character described, a carrier comprlsmg a roller frame, a. bucket mounte therein to rotate, levers `pivoted in'said frame and'enga ing said bucket upon opposite sides to hol upright, and a levers having an intermediate pivot, and-the 'other lever having 'an en'd they may be simultaneously dlsengaged upon movement of said shaft.
2. An elevated carrying-system comprisl ing a pair of supportlng posts, a trolley wlre ost A1 1,- and -will move' U the same' ongitudinally movable 'shaft y .engaging both of said levers, onevof said pivot, whereby 'one of said levers having an intermediate l .plvo'g and the ohe' lever having an enc" Suppolte@ beween Said posts, a oler fname in the opposite di'ecton2 au operating suspended uponfsad trolley wire and eml' Cable 5o move seid roler frame, a power bodyng e bueke mounted therein to die. l"whee engaging Said cable, and a. stop, block 15 zzl'ie, levers pvoed in Suid frame and en-,l orred by one of Said supportng'posts and gagging Said bucket. upon opposite sides to ailenged in the path of the trip shat.
