CEMENT-BLOCK MACHINE.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, LEONELL HAGE and WALTER HAGE, citizens of the United States, residing at Hawley, in the county of Clay, State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Cement- Block Machines; and we do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to machines for forming cement blocks such as are used in llapilding houses, walls, foundations, and the One object of the machine is to provide an improved general construction of devices of this character.
A second object of the invention is to provide an improved method of freeing the form from the unset block of the mold.
A third object of the invention is to provide an improved means for holding a pallet in position pn the mold until such time as it is desired to release the same.
With the above and other objects in view, the invention consists in general of a cement block machine provided with a frame, a mold, and means to rotate the mold and free the unset blocks therefrom.
The invention further consists in certain novel details of construction and combinations of parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying` drawings, and specifically set forth in'the claims.
In the accompanying drawings, like characters of reference indicate like parts in the several views, and Figure 1 is a side elevation of a machine constructed in accordance with this invention. Fig. 2 is a top plan view thereof. Fig. 3 is a longitudinal section on the line 3-3 of Fig. 2. Fig. 4L is a transverse section on the line 4 4: of Fig. 2. Fig. 5 is a detail view of one of the core blocks. Fig. 6 is a detail longitudinal section showing the block mold in its turned over position.
The numeral 10 indicates the rear legs of the machine. At the top of the frame are longitudinal frame members 11. The lower ends of the members 10 are held in spaced relation by means of bolts 12 provided with pipe spacers 13 between t-he legs and nuts 14 exterior thereof. 111. Both the frontand rear legs are provided with vertically disposed slots 16 wherethrough pass the bolts 17 having cen* trally disposed pipe spacers 18 supported thereon. The bolts 17 also serve to support longitudinal frame members 19 which are held in vertically adjusted position by means of the bolts 17 and the nuts 20 carried on these bolts. The members 19 extend to the rear of the legs 15 as indicated at 21 and there form what is preferably termed the pallet table. lt will thus be seen that the members 19 serve not only as longitudinal braces between the legs 10 and the legs 15 but also serve for the purpose of supporting a pallet.
Rotatably mounted in the upper longitudinal members 11 is the shaft 22 whereon is supported a pair of rocker arms 23. This shaft 22 is preferably adjacent the legs 15 and the rocker arms, in the position of charging the device, extend perpendicularly upward therefrom. Pivoted to the rocker arms 23 are bars 2d. Between the bars 24 extend rods 25 on each of which is mounted rocker arms 26.
Upon the shaft 22 and rotating therewith are a pair of arms 27 which, in the position of loading, have their upper faces lying in the saine plane as the upper faces of the members 11. These bars 27 are provided with bosses 23 wherethrough pass bolts 29. The bolts 29 serve to support a mold bottom, 30 and hold the same firmly on the bars 27. Attached to the mold bottom 30 are a pair of arms 31 between which extends an operating rod or bar 32. Hinged to each edge of the mold bottom by suitable hinges are mold sides 33 and these sides are also pivotally connected as at 34C to the arms 26. The bottom board 30 has also hinged thereto end boards 35 and a top board which is preferably called the pallet is indicated at 36, being held to the side boards by means of fixed clips 37 and spring clips 38. Fixed clips are used on one side of the mold and spring clips on the other in order that the pallet 36 may be hooked beneath the fixed clips at one edge and forced down over the spring clips at the other.
Between. the members 11 extends the bar 39 whereon is mounted a plurality of core blocks 10 each having transversely disposed slots 11 in the upper end thereof. These core blocks 10 have the upper portion procob jecting through suitable openings ft2 in the bottom board and the upwardly projecting part is in the form of a truncated pyramid.
In the operation of this device the mold 1s positioned in the manner shown in Fig. in the full lines, suitable stops 43 and 44 being provided on the end boards to hold them 1n closed position. The mold is then filled with a suitable grade of cement and the pallet 36 placed in position. The operating bar 32 and the front handle 25 are grasped and the mold and parts attached thereto revolved around the shaft 22 until the pallet 36 strikes on the projecting portions 2l of the members 19. When this is done the operating handle 32 is released and the handle 25 pulled upward. This causes the sides to open out as indicated in Fig. 6. As this upward movement of the bar 25 continues the bars 24 strike against the lugs 44 and cause the ends to spread open. This entirely releases the mold from the block, inasmuch as the core molds l0 were left behind at the beginning of the turning operation. The molded block with the pallet on which it rests is then removed and the device turned over to the position shown in full lines in Fig. l when the operation may be repeated throughout, a new pallet being substituted for that previously used.
There has thus been provided a simple and eflicient device ofthe kind described for the purpose specified.
It is obvious that many minor changes may be made in the form and construction of this invention without departing from the material principles thereof. It is not therefore desired to confine the device to the exact form and proportions herein shown and described, but it is wished to include all such as properly come within the scope of the appended claims.

` frame, a shaft supported in said frame, bars supported on said shaft, a mold bottom iixedly held on said bars, other bars supported from said shaft, mold sides operatively connected to the last mentioned bars and hinged to the bottom, moldends hinged to the bottom, and means on said ends adapted Ctlo swing the same as the device is operate 2. In a device of the kind described, a frame including spaced members forming a pallet receiving table, a shaft supported in said frame, bars supported on said shaft, a mold bottom fixedly held on said bars, other ars supported from said shaft, mold sides operatively connected to the last mentioned bars and hinged to the bottom, mold ends hinged to the mold bottom, means on said ends adapted to swing the same as the device is operated, and a pallet forming a closure for said mold releasably held thereon.

In a device of the kind described, a frame, a shaft supported in said frame, bars supported on said shaft, a mold bottom tixedly held on said bars, other bars supported from said shaft, spaced rods connecting the last mentioned bars, arms extending from said rods, mold sides pivotally attached to said arms and hinged to the bottom, mold ends hinged to the bottom, and means on said ends adapted to swing the same as the device is operated.

In a device of the kind described, a frame including spaced members forming a pallet receiving table, a shaft supported in said frame, bars supported on said shaft, a mold bottom liXedly held on said bars, other bars supported from said shaft, spaced rods carried by the last mentioned bars, arms extending from said rods, mold sides pivotally connected to said arms and hinged to said bottom, mold ends hinged to the mold bottom, means on said ends adapted to swing the same, as the device is operated, the closure for said molds to be formed of a releasable pallet, and the clips on the mold sides normally holding the closure in position.

In a device of the kind described, a frame including spaced members forming a pallet receiving table, a shaftsupported on said frame, bars supported on said shaft, a mold bottom xedly held on said bars, other bars supported from said shaft, rods supported by the last mentioned bars, arms carried by said rods, mold sides pivotally connected to said arms and hinged to said bottom, mold ends hinged to the mold bottom, spaced lugs on said mold ends adapted to contact with the last mentioned bars, and a releasable closure for said mold adapted to form a pallet.

In a device of the kind described, a frame including spaced members forming a pallet receiving table, a shaft rotatably mounted in said frame, bars supported on said shaft and adapted to rotate therewith, a mold bottom iXedly held on said bars, a pair lof rock arms xedly mounted on said shaft and adapted to rotate therewith, other bars pivotally connected to said rock arms, mold sides operatively connected to the last mentioned bars and hinged to the bottom, mold ends hinged to the mold bottom, means on said ends adapted to swing the same as the device is operated, and a closure releasably held on said mold adapted to form a pallet.

In a device of the kind described, a frame including spaced members forming a pallet receiving table, a shaft rotatably mounted in said frame, bars rigidly attached to and rotating with said shaff, a mold bottom xedly held on said bars, rock arms ixedly mounted on said shaft and rotating therewith, other bars pivotally attached to said rock arms, spaced rods connecting the last mentioned bars, arms attached to said rods, mold sides pivotally connected to the arms and hinged to the bottom, mold ends hinged to the mold bottom, spaced lugs on said mold ends adapted to contact with the last mentioned bars as the same are rotated, and the pallet releasably held on said mold to form a closure therefor.

In a device of the kind described, a frame including spaced members forming a pallet receiving table, a shaft rotatably mounted in said frame, bars rigidly attached to and rotating` With said shaft, a mold bottom Xedly held on said bars, rock arms xedly mounted on said shaft and rotating therewith, other bars pivotally attached to said rock arms, spaced rods connecting the last mentioned bars, arms attached to said rods, mold sides pivotally connected to the arms and hinged to the bottom, mold ends hinged to the mold bottom, spaced lugs on said mold ends adapted to contact With the last mentioned bars as the same are rotated, the pallet releasably held on said mold to form a closure therefor, said mold bottom being provided With a plurality of apertures, and core blocks supported on said frame normally held Within said mold.
