T R. BROOKS. DEVICE FOR HOLDING TOOLS. APPLICATION FILED APR. 9, 1910.
Patented Aug. 16,1910.
llNlED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
THOMAS E. BROOKS, 0F IVlIL'IONVALE, KANSAS.
DEVICE FOR HOLDING TOOLS.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, THoMAs It. BROOKS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Miltonvale, in the county of Cloud and State of Kansas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Devices for Holding Tools; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact de scription of the invention, such will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in apparatus for holding hammers, hatchets, etc., and comprises a simple and efficient means whereby the tool may be held to the arm of the user in order that it may be accessible at all times for use.
My invention comprises various details of construction, combinations and arrangements of parts which will be hereinafter fully described and then specifically defined in the appended claim.
1 illustrate my invention in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view showing a hammer fastened to the arm of a person. Fig. 2 is a view showing the hammer head detached from its holder and gripped by the person to whose wrist the handle end is anchored, and Fig. 3 is a sectional view through the hammer head holder.
Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, A designates a metallic plate having a key hole slot A formed therein, one end of which is enlarged and which is adapted to receive the head B of a screw fastened to the handle 0 of the hammer D. A strap F having a buckle F at one end is fastened to said plate and is adapted to surround the arm of the operator adjacent to the elbow, as shown in Fig. 1
Specification of Letters Patent.

of the drawings. A band H has a loop H fastened thereto and is provided with buckles N at one end adapted to engage the straps l at the opposite end of the band whereby the latter may be fastened to the wrist of the person to whose arm said plate is held by the strap F. Fastened to the handle C of the hammer is a strap O having a loop 0 at one end connecting the same with the loop H upon the band H and serving as means to anchor the handle to the band.
The adjustment of my device and its operation will be readily understood.
\Vhen the hammer is not in use, the head B of the screw may be inserted in the key hole slot A and securely hold the head against the plate, as illustrated in Fig. 1, while the handle of the hammer is held against the outer portion of the wrist, thus giving the operator the free use of his hand. When it is desired to use the hammer, the screw upon the handle is released from the slot of the plate and the strap connecting the hammer handle with the loop upon the band of sufficient length to allow the operator to grip the handle at its end and use the same without any interference from the connections between the handle and the band.
hat I claim to be new is A device for holding hammers, etc, comprising a wrist and an arm band adapted to be fastened respectively to the wrist and arm of a person, a plate fitted to the arm band and slotted, a hammer, a headed lug projecting from the handle thereof and adapted to engage said slot, and means for fastening the hammer handle to the wrist band.
In testimony whereof I hereunto afliX my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
THOMAS R. BROOKS.
