For lifting the arm P there is provided a 5 curved disk S on the shaft R which makes one revolution for the advance of each sheet. On this disk rests the arm P either directly or by means of the roller T. In this manner it is possible to lift the arm P and also t-he arm A in the desired moment. This curved disk S can also be used to return the freeing device to its starting position when a projection U thereof engages behind ra correspending projection V of the freeing device F. As the latter descends the locking d`evicev G With its nose I snaps into therecess according to the present invention all parts of the freeing device are mounted on a common cross carrier W. This also insures a good mounting of the several parts and their effective engagement .'or mesh duringy Work. The freeing arrangement as an eiltirety can be rst mounted and placed into the machine in complete condition, and is therefore also dismountable as a Whole. By the compact arrangement of the entire freeing arrangement it is also possible to operate on sheets of twenty-seven and one half (Q7-) cm. Width by this arrangement While the former arrangements of similar sort are able to deliver only sheets of aft least 35 to 36 cm.
The sheets are forwarded to the roll A by any suitable feeding machine (npt shown) and are taken from the roll L by the gripper of anyprinting press or the like.
^ ,What I Aclaim is Sheet feeding mechanism comprising a 'friction Wheel, lever mechanism for set- `ting the Wheel into and out of action, a freeing device for actuating the leve:` mechanism to raise the wheel, a locking device for the freeing device, a sheet feeler for actuat ing the locking device, andtappet mechanism for moving the locking device to releasing position.
