Specification of Letters Patent.

Application filed May 24, 1910. Serial No. 563,186.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HERBERT EDWIN FORGY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Shamrock, in the county of Wheeler and State of Texas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Door-Display Racks, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to a display rack and more particularly to display racks for doors and similar articles, and the object is to provide simple and inexpensive devices which are easily operated and which will display doors to the best advantage without mutilating the doors.
Another object is to prevent the doors from warping while held in the display racks.
One of the advantages is that in factories, lumber yards, and in other places where doors and similar articles are kept, the doors may be stacked in the display racks so that a customer or buyer may inspect the doors readily with little effort.
Other objects and advantages will be fully explained in the following description and the invention will be more particularly pointed out in the claims.
Reference is had to the accompanying drawings which form a part of this application and specification.
Figure 1 is a side elevation of the display racks with a door mounted therein. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the corner socket. Fig. 3 is a plan view of the bail for engaging the door. Fig. 4 is a perspective view of the brace for the edge of a door, showing a variation from the brace shown in Fig. 1. Fig. 5 is a broken sectional view of the brace shown in Fig. 4, illustrating the bearing block therein for a pivot bolt.
Similar characters of reference are used to indicate the same parts throughout the several views.
A section of a Wall 1 is shown for convenience in illustrating the invention. Brackets 2 are mounted on the wall by suitable screws. Fig. 1 shows a wooden bar 3 which forms av support and brace for the door. A corner socket 4 is provided and the bar 3 is set in the socket 4. A cap 5 is attached to the bar 3 to. form a brace for the bar and also to aid in forming the bearing for a pivot bolt 6. The cap 5 will prevent the splitting of the bar 3. The cap 5 is extended down on the back side of the bar 3 to form a bearing for a bail 8. The bar 3 and socket 4 are pivotally mounted in the brackets 2 by means of the pivot bolt 6 and by a pivot lug 7 which is rigid with the socket 4. A bail 8 is pivotally connected with the brace 3 and adapted to swing down and engage the door 9. The bail 8 will brace the sides or faces of the door and the bar 3' will brace the edge of the door. The door can be swung 180 de 'rees or more if necessary with very little effort. Any number of doors may be thus pivotally connected with the wall.
Instead of the wooden bar shown in Fig. 1 of the drawings a brace may be formed of sheet metal such as shown in Figs. 4 and 5. A bearing block 11 may be attached to the inside of the brace 10 for the pivot bolt 6. The brace 10 will engage the edge of the door and also portions of the faces of the door.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. A display rack for doors comprising upper and lower brackets, a corner socket having a pivot lug engaging the lower bracket, a brace bar mounted in said socket, a pivot bolt securing said bar in position under said upper bracket, a perforated cap engaging the upper end of said bar and forming a bearing, and a bail mounted in said bearing for engaging a door.
2. A display rack for doors comprising upper and lower brackets, a corner socket pivotally mounted on said lower bracket, a brace mounted in said socket and pivotally connected with said upper bracket for engaging the edge of a door, said socket having a large portion for holdin said brace in place and a reduced portion or bracing a door, and a bail pivotally connected with said brace and adapted to swing vertically at its free end and engage and brace a door.
