To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, HERBERT L. PENDLE- ToN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Wyalusing, in the county of Grant and State of Wisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ironing- Boards, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.

This invention relates to ironing boards and has specially in view one that may be readily supported by a window sill, table, or other article having a projecting edge.

With the above object in view the invention contemplates the employment of an ironing surface, or board, one end of which is bifurcated for the passage therethrough of one end of a leg which has a hinge connection with the said board and which has a wedge block adjustably mounted on its end portion and adapted to form with the bifurcated portion of the said board, a clamp for attachment with a table, windowsill, or like article.

In carrying out the invention it will be understood that the essential features are susceptible of structural changes and Variations, but a preferred and practical embodiment of the same is shown in the accompanying drawings, wherein Figure 1 is a side elevation of the improved ironing board, partly in section, showing the same attached to a table. Fig. 2 is a bottom perspective view of the ironing board. Fig. 3 is a detail perspective view of one end of the ironing board leg and its wedge block. Fig. 4 is a detail top plan view of the upper end of the ironing board leg, showing the manner of connecting its wedge block to the same.

Like characters of reference designate corresponding parts.

Referring to the accompanying drawings, 1 designates a supporting leg which when in use is inclined and which has a guide slot 2 in its upper end through which extends a bolt 3 fastened to a slidable wedge block 4 in the under side of said leg andheld in adjustable position thereon by means of a wing nut 4 on the upper end of the bolt 3 and which is clamped against the leg 1. The wedge block 4 is of an oblong, triangular shape with a short vertical end, an elongated, horizontal bottom side, and an elongated inclined top side which rests against the under side of the leg.

' An ironing board 8 has one end bifurcated, as indicated at 9 to form oppositely disposed, forwardly projecting arms 1011, respectively, which form a guide for the end of the leg 1 which carries the wedge block 4:. .The said arms are sufliciently spaced apart This arrangement of leaf serves to reinforce the said board and prevents the same from splitting.

By referring more particularly to Fig. 1 it will be seen that the projecting end of the leg which carries the adjustable slide, and the bifurcated end of the ironing board form a clamp for'at-tachment with a table top or like structure having a projecting edge, which, owing to the horizontal ar- 7 rangement of the ironing board, and the fiat, horizontal bottom of said wedge-block, provide for a uniform gripping of the table top or other support, which, to a large extent, overcomes all tendency of the device slip- A nother valuable feature of the invention is in the use of the adjustable wedge-block which permits of the clamp being used for attachment with various thicknesses of supports without interfering with the horizontal plane of the ironing board. It will also be understood that through the described bifurcated portion of the ironing board and the hinge connection between the same and the leg the entire device may be folded up compactly when not in use, as the width of the slot forming said bifurcated portion is suflicient to permit of free movement of the leg therethrough.

An ironing board having a bifurcated end, a leg having its upper end portion projecting through said bifurcated end and hinged thereto, and having an elongated slot in said extended end portion, a triangular-shaped clamping block secured to the under side of said extended end of said leg with its inclined side adjacent to said leg,
