CAMP-STOVE.
To all whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that I, STEPHEN ELLIOTT BALon, a citizen of the United States, residing at I'lolderness, in the State of New Hampshire, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Camp-Stoves, of which the following is a full and complete disclosure.
My invention relates to stoves used for cooking over open fires, and the object of my invention is to produce a stove, light and simple in construction and specially adapted for cooking in the open, which may be folded or collapsed into a small space when not in use, so that it may be easily carried in a camping or automobile outfit, and which may be quickly set up for use and taken apart without the use of tools.
One form of my invention is illustrated in the drawing accompanying and forming a part of this specification, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of the complete stove assembled and ready for use, and Fig. 2 is a detail view showing the means for connecting and disconnecting the separate elements thereof.
Referring in detail to the drawing, the numeral 1 designates the vertical-supports, of wiich there are three. These are connected at their upper ends by transverse braces 2 and midway by like transverse braces 3. The vertical supports 1 are all alike and are preferably formed of commercial tubes or rods, and are each made in two sections, an upper section 4 and a lower sectiOn The upper section has a socket formed in the lower end, adapted to receive the reduced upper end 6 of the lower member. The cross braces 2 and 3 are identical and can be used interchangeably. Each of these cross braces has an' eye near each end, adapted to receive the reduced portions of the uprights and tie them together, as shown in Fig. 1. The sections l near their upper ends each have a socket 7 formed thereon and adapted to receive the arms 8. These arms are adapted to support the food Specification of Letters Patent.

to be cooked, and are shown bearing meat hooks 9 and a pot 10. The joints connecting the sections 4 with the other parts of the device permit them to be rotated so that the arms 8 can swing or be rotated in a horizontal plane. This feature makes iteasy to adjust the position of the food and to keep it over the hottest part of the fire, or to swing it away from the fire after it has been cooked and is ready to be removed.
My stove is composed of comparatively few parts, and as these are largely interchangeable, no skill or care is required in assembling. When it is taken apart the separate elements, because they are substantially straight, may be'tied into a small bundle and kept until needed again.
While I have described only one embodiment of my invention, 1 am aware that changes may be made therein by those skilled in the art without departing from the spirit-of my invention or the scope of my claims.
What I claim is:
1. A camp stove comprising three vertical supports, each made in two sections, transverse braces connecting said supports, the upper section of each vertical support being rotatable and having secured thereto a horizontal supporting arm adapted to rotate with said section, substantially as described.
2. A camp stove comprising three vertical supports, each made in two sections, transverse braces connccting said supports, the upper section of each vertical support being rotatable and having secured thereto a horizontal supporting arm adapted to rotate with said section, all of the above recited elements being detachable, substantially as described.
Signed this Sthday of February, 1910.
