Description
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
BRUNO BEUOHEIEOF .KALAMAZOQ MICHIGAN, ASSIGNOR TO HIMSELF AND -W. ROEDIGER, OF SAME PLAGE.
IMPROVEMENT IN HolsTlNe-JACKS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 96,299, dated November 2, 1669.
To @ZZ w/ wm it may concern,.-
Be it known that I, BRUNO BEUCHEL, of Kalamazoo, in the county of Kalamazoo and State of Michigan, have invented certain Improvements in Hoisting-Jacks, of which the following is a specification.
The object of my invention is to'increase the power of the hoisting-jack by means of back gears and a screw 5 also, to change the motion by shifting the handle from one crankshaft to the other, thus increasing the liftingpower or the motion of machine, as required. It may be used in lifting fenceposts or any other object near the surface of the ground;
also, to lift buildings, cars, or any other object beneath which it can be placed.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is a perspective view of a machine embodying my invention. Fig. 2 is a View of the liftingbar. Fig. 3 is a view of the case ot' the hoisting-jack. Fig. 4 is a view of the screw, gears, shafts, and handle.
A is the case, which should be made of castiron, with the movable caps B and C at each end, so that the lifting-bar, screw, and gears may be readily removed for repairs.
D is a projection in the middle of the case, by means of which it rests on a frame-work when used as a stump-puller, as seen at Fig.
- 1. The lifting-bar, Fig, 2, is furnished with cogs on one side, into which the screw meshes, and by means of which it is raised and lowered; or Ait may be made as a screw and placed inside of screw G, the latter being used as a nut.
E is a projection from the base of the lift-v ing-bar, to which may be attached any object tol be liftedv from the ground.
F is `a cap, to be placed rmly under any object which is lto be raised.
G, Fig. 4, is the screw, held in position by the plates H and I. ST0 its base is attached a bevel-wheel, J, which meshes into the pinion K. The pinion K is attached to the spurwheel L, and spur-wheel L meshes into spurpinion M, which is connected with the handle by shaft N.
O is a latch, which, by dropping into the cogs of pinion M, prevents the lifting-bar being pressed downward by the weightwhich is being raised. The handle being placed on crank-shaft P, increases the motion I` claim as my invention- The combination of screw G, lifting-bar, Fig. 2, gears J K L M, and latch O, in the manner and for the purpose set forth..
BRUNO BEUCHEL.
