Description

G. PFEIL.
STOVE BOARD. APPLIOATION FILED JULY2, 1909.

will/ m 1 JVVU'w/vUa-wr 2 GRACE PFEIL, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
STOVE-BOARD.
Application filed July 2, 1909.
To all whom "it may concern:
Be it known that I, GRACE PFEIL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Stove-Boards, of which the following is a specification.
The object of this invention is to construct a light and strong stove board.
In the accompanying drawings Figure 1 is a top plan view of my improved stove board. Fig. 2 is a bottom plan view of the stove board. Fig. 3 is a section on dotted line a a Fig. l.
The top 1 of the stove board is made of sheet asbestos and has its edges wrapped around a wire edging frame 2. To the underface of the asbestos top 1 is pasted a paper or straw board backing 3, the edges of which, as clearly shown in Fig. 3, abut against the outer face of the portion of the asbestos sheet that is wrapped around the frame. As a result of this arrangement, the asbestos sheet cannot unwrap, and its edges are covered so that it cannot readily be torn from the edging frame.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented June 21, 1910.
Serial No. 505,767.
The asbestos top protects the carpet or floor from the heat of the stove, the wire edging gives strength to the structure and prevents the edges of the asbestos from tearing, and the paper backing serves to protect the asbestos from tearing or being punctured.
This construction makes a very cheap, light and strong stove board.
I claim as my invention.
A stove board, comprising a wire edging frame, an upper sheet having its edges Wrapped around the frame, and a reinforcing sheet secured to the under face of the upper sheet and having its edges abutted against the outer face of the portion of the upper sheet that is wrapped around the frame.
I11 testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
GRACE PFEIL.
