attachments therefor, and is particularly designed for use in connection with a house to house delivery. In devices of this character, as heretofore constructed, the individual mail boxes have been hung on the outside of the house or there have been slots out directly through the door, these slots facing parallel with the front ofthe house. In some instances the individual mail boxes have been hung within the recess formed by the door casing, so that they are substantially hidden from view, but where the boxes are hung ou-the stop of the casing for the purposeof hiding them from ordinary view, the same are located on the outside of the building and it is necessary for the occupant of the premises to open the door in order to get the mail.

The primary object of this invention is to overcome these objectionable features by fitting a box or receptacle, interiorly of the house adjacent the door, provided, with w a chute so arranged as to open outwardly of the house in a substantially hidden position, and broadly speaking the invention consists in so arranging the chute that it extends inwardly and. downwardly in a slotcut through the door stop, jamb and part of the studding, the outside opening of the slot being locatedin the stop of the door jamb, V

or at right angles to the front of the house, and the inner end of the slot terminating in the mail receptacle.

To more fully explain the invention reference is had to the accompanying drawings illustrating a practical embodiment of the same, in which like letters designate the same parts in the several views, and in which Figure 1 is a fragmentary detail perspective View looking from the inside of the house toward the door and its jamb, one stile of the door being broken away to show the chute terminating in the stop of the door '2 the hated at 14:, and

4 Having thus described the invention, what I claim 1s:
