WILLIAM H. HARRIS, OF GLADSTONE, TERRITORY OF NEW MEXICO.
GLOVE-FASTENER.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, lVILLIAu H. HARRIS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Gladstone, county of Union, and Territory of New Mexico, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Glove-Fasteners, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in glove fasteners, the object being to provide a device of this character which shall be neat in appearance and convenient for the wearer.
A further object of my invention is to provide a glove fastening means in combination with an ordinary lacing, and a further object is to provide a simple but efficient means for securing the end of the glove lacing.
Other objects will appear hereinafter.
With these objects in view my invention consists in such a novel construction and arrangement of parts all as will be hereinafter fully described and particularly pointed out in the appended claim.
My invention will be more readily understood by reference to the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, and in which,
Figure l is a perspective view of a glove embodying my invention in its preferred form, and Fig. 2 is a detail transverse section taken on the line :10 w of Fig. 1.
Referring now to the drawings 1 indicates the glove and 2 a two-ply flap overlapping a portion of the same. Formed in the flap 2 adjacent the edge thereof is a series of leather loops 8, said loops being integral with the inner layer of the flap 2 and secured to the outer layer by means of stitching. Loops 4 similar to loops 3 are integral with the outer layer of the body portion 1 of the glove and secured to the inner layer thereof by stitching. The glove lacing 5 is preferably secured at the point 6 in the body portion 1, and the same is adapted to be drawn through the loops 3 and 4 to a Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed March 15, 1909.
Patented May 31, 1910.
Serial No. 483,434.
lacing hook 7. Loops 3 and 4 are arranged alternately and in such a manner that when the lacing 5 is drawn tightly therethrough that the glove will fit closely on the wrist of the wearer. The lacing hook 7 is of the ordinary form as used in laced shoes and is positioned on the body portion 1 adjacent the upper end thereof. A second lacing hook 7 is also secured on the body portion 1 at the wrist thereof, and through which the lacing may also be drawn.
In order to hold the lacing in position after the same has been drawn through the hooks 7 two clasps 8 are provided to engage the same.
While I have shown what I deem to be the preferable form of my improved glove fastener, I do not wish to be limited thereto, as there might be minor changes made in the details of construction and arrangement of parts without departing from the spirit of my invention, as defined by the appended claim.
Having described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
In a glove fastener, a body portion composed of outer and inner plies, a series of loops on said body portion formed from tonguesv on said outer ply bent over and stitched to said inner ply, a flap overlapping said body portion composed of outer and inner plies, a series of loops on said flap alternating with said body loops and formed from tongues on said inner flap ply bent over and stitched to said outer ply, a lacing drawn through said loops and means for securing said lacing, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
IVILLIAM H. HARRIS.
Witnesses:
