UNITED sTATEs PATENT oEEioE.
MAGNUS W. LARSON, OF ALBERT LEA, MINNESOTA.
DISH-WASHER.
, Specification of Iietters Patent.
rai-.enten May 31,1910.
,Application .filed March 10, 1910.' Serial No. 548,421.
To allivhom 'it may concern:
Be it known thatI, :MAGNUS W. LARsoN,
a citizen of the United States, residing atv Alberi; Lea, in the county of Freeborn and State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Dish- Washers; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable tions of devices hereinafter described and ded .fined in the claims. In the accompanying drawingswhich illustrate the invention, like characters indicate like parts throughout the several views.
. Referring to the drawings: Figure 1 is la plan view of the improved dish-'washing apparatus. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the Same. Fig. 3 is'a vertical section taken approximately on the line KS4-X3.
The numeral 1 indicates a' table shown as supported by legs 2. This table is preferably covered with sheetiiietal and it is .provided with a multiplicity of depending washing tanks 3 adapted to contain hot water. The hot water is adapted to be supplied to the tanks 3 through valved pipes 11, and the soiled water is adapted to be drawn off from the tanks through lvalvled drain pipes 5. The tanks 3 are preferably con structed .of metal' and at the upper ends are joined' with the metallic table covering 6 so that the water will drain from the top 0f the table into the saidl tanks.
Rigidly"seciiied to the table is a sort of inverted U shaped supporting frame 7, the
"transverse `top bar of which extends transdish containing basket or cage versely across the table in front olf the tanks 3. Intermediately pivoted on the transverse to bar of the frame 7 is a lever 8 provided as shown, with a long sleeve 9 that is not only pivotally mounted on the transverse top bar of said frame 7 but is free to slide thereon.
Thatend of lever 8 which overlies the table, is connected by a chain 10 or other suitable flexible connection, to the bail of a 11 preferably constructed of wire and adapted` to fit quite closely yet freely, within the tanks 3. An
, operating chain or connection 12 is attached to the outer endof lever 8 and is provided as shown at its lower end, with a hand ring 13. The dishes are placed within the basket 11, preferably up-side-dowii, and the basket vmay be completely filled therewith. Then by a proper sliding movement of the lever on the upper bar of frame 7 the basket isV brought to position above and then is -dropped into the hot water of one of the tanks 3 and Athe dirt or grease will be rc-` moved therefrom 'by the action of the hot water and by the dashing action of the-water produced by the upward and downward movement of the basket within the tank.
As is evident, t-liis upward and downward movement of the basket may be easily produced by alternately pulling on lthe ring 13 andv releasing the same. have been quite well cleaned, the basket containing the saine should be transferred into the other tank 3, which as is-evideu/t may be accomplished by a lateral slidinf tiiiovement of the leverl 8. Then by fu1 lier upward and downward movement of the' basket in this second or rinsing tank the `dishes will be completely cleaned of .grease and will be heated to such temperature that they will dry almost instantly after they are removed from the water.
The al'iparatus above described as is obvious, is simple and of comparatively small cost.. restaurants and elsewhere and has been found highly elicient for the purposes had iii view.
Yhat l claim is: y
1. A dish-washing apparatus comprising a plurality of water containing tanks, an overhead transverse supporting bar, a lever pivoted on said bar and capable of sliding tanks, substantially as described.
2. A dish-washingapparatus comprising a t-able, a multiplicity ofivvater containing.
