CHIMNEY-TOP.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ARNOLD ZWINGLI, a citizen of the United States, residing at Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Chimney-Tops, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a chimney top. When applied to a flue this top will secure an efiicient draft in the flue even when located alongside of a high wall or house without its being necessary to extend the fiue to project upward above the adjoining house or wall.
This invention is set forth in the following specification and claims and illustrated in the annexed drawing in which Figure 1 shows a perspective View of a chimney-top embodying this invention. Fig. 2 is a central section in a longitudinal direction of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a transverse section of Fig. 1 the section being taken through opposite outlets.
In this drawing theletter a indicates the top or cap portion. This top can be adapted for application to any suitable number of fiues according to the number of compartments into which the top is divided. Suitable partitions b will form compartments as required. Each compartment is shown provided with outlets c. The space in the top above the outlets forms a warm air chamber and the smoke rising through the flues into the top passes off through the outlets. The outlets extending from the cap or top have their exit portions directed downward to prevent the entry of rain or foreign matter and at the same time maintain efficient draft. The outlets can be formed of one piece of material or their exit portions can be made suitably removable as by a bayonet joint or Specification of Letters Patent.

I claim 1. A device of the kind described, comprising a casing of substantially rectangular form having a domed top, a series of partitions arranged in the casing to subdivide the interior of the casing into a series of compartments, a series of openings leading out of the casing and located at a greater distance from the top than from the bottom of the casing and adapted to form a series of warm air spaces between the domed top and the outlet openings.

A device of the kind described, comprising a casing of rectangular form having a domed top, a series of partitions arranged in the casing to subdivide the interior of the casing into a series of compartments, a series of outlets leading from the casing and having elbows projecting outwardly with downwardly extending exit portions, said outlets being located near the bottom of the casing to form warm air spaces in the top of the casing.
3. A device of the kind described, comprising a casing of rectangular form, having a domed top, partitions arranged in the casing to form a number of compartments, and outlets for the compartments, each having an elbow adapted to engage a fastening device 011 the outlet portion of the casing to lock the elbow in place.
