My present invention has for its object to produce a toy in the nature of a marble shooter or gun, which is easy and inexpensive to make, is durable and neat in appearance, and comprises the features hereinafter fully described.

In the drawings Figure 1 is a perspective of my marble shooter. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal central section thereof. Fig. 3 is a bot tom view of my device. Fig. 4 is a cross-section on larger scale approximately taken on lines AA, of Figs. 2 and 3. Fig. 5 is a plan, also on smaller scale, of the blank from which the body is formed. Fig. 6 is a detail view of the blank from which the plunger is formed. Fig. 7 is a detail of the ring to which one end of the rubber band of my device is fastened.

My device comprises a body, a, made of a blank as shown on the smaller scale in Fig. 5, such blank being a rectangular strip of which the middle portion constitutes the top, 6, 6, being for the sides, 0, c, the inturned pieces; said parts being bent on the dotted lines (Z of the blank shown in Fig. 5, and the inturned pieces 0, being spaced apart from the sides I), so as to provide intermediate guideways in which the plunger 6 reciprocates.

The plunger 6, is cut out of a strip of metal as shown in Fig. (3 and comprises a central portion and sides 7, f bent down on dotted line 9. The right end of the blank as shown in Fig. 6 has portions h, it, cut out, also a slit 2'. This end provides the members j, is, Z, m, of the marble shooter, such members being formed as shown. The opposite end of the plunger 0, has portions at n, a, cut away and is bent on dotted lines 0, into the form more clearly shown in Figs. 1 and 2 so as to provide a striking head provided with flange g.

thermore the body a, has a recess cut out at r, so that the head 19 will fit therein and cause the bottom portion 7 of the head to strike against the inturned portion 0 on the interior of the sides 5. The cutting out of the recess 1" is, however, not an essential feature, since if the parts are well fitted, my device will work just as well without such recess, the latter is not shown in Fig. 5.

The plunger blank is slitted at s, and the portions 6, are turned in so as to strengthen the head p and reinforce the lateral edges thereof. In the interior port-ions c of the sides 5, are punched registering holes a, in which is inserted a pin 0), on which one end of the rubber band w is fastened, the opposite end of which is secured on a split ring 00, made narrower at :22 so as to properly center the rubber band to, and having an opening 00 to facilitate the placing of the rubber band thereon, the ring being held in place by the flange 9. In case the rubber band to be broken, it can easily be replaced by another, by removing the ring 00, and springing the sides 6 outward. to take out the pin o.

In assembling the parts after the body has been formed, and the plunger c inserted therein, the sides 5 of the body are sprung apart so as to insert the pin c, on which has previously been placed the rubber band w. The opposite end of the band is then secured by the ring 00 on the flange g. In Fig. 1 the plunger is shown drawn back so as to place the rubber band w in tension, preparatory to projecting the plunger 0 with suflicient force to shoot the marble or other projectile against an object or mark.

I claim:

1. A toy gun comprising a body made rectangular,like an inverted U in crosssection, and provided with interior guideways on the interior of its sides; a plunger, comprising a central portion, bent down sides, and a stop or striking head at one end, said plunger being adapted to reciprocate in, said guideways of the body; projectile-holding means at the outer end of the plunger; and a spring element arranged to project the plunger.

2. A toy gun comprising a body made rectangular, like an inverted U in cross-section, and provided with interior guideways on the interior of its sides; a plunger, comprising a central portion, bent down sides, and a stop or striking head at one end, said plunger being adapted to reciprocate in said guideways of the body; projectile holding means at the outer end of the plunger; a split ring connected with the striking head of the plunger; a pin transversely aflixed in the sides of the body, and a rubber band connecting said ringand pin.

3. A toy gun comprising a body made rectangular, like an inverted U in cross-section, and provided with interior guideways on the interior of its sides; a plunger, comprising a central portion, bent down sides, and

a stop or striking head atone end, said plunger being adapted to reciprocate in said guideways of the body; projectile-holding means at the outer end or the plunger; a split ring connected with the striking head of the plunger; a pin transversely aflixed in the sides of the body, and adapted to be removed by springing the sides apart; and a rubber band connecting said ring and pin.

A toy gun comprising a body made of a single piece, formed rectangular, like an inverted U in cross-section, and provided at its sides with inturned members spaced apart and constituting guideways; a plunger, comprising a central portion, bent down sides, and a stop or striking head at one end, said plunger bein adapted to reciprocate in said guideways oi the body; projectile-holding means at the'outer end of the plunger; a split ring connected with the striking head of the plunger; said ring being of tapering form for the purpose mentioned; a pin transversely a'HiXed in the sides of the body, and adapted to be removed by springing the sides apart; and a rubber band connecting said ring and pin.

5 A toy gun comprising a body made of a single piece, formed rectangular, like an inverted U in crosssection, and provided at its sides with inturned members spaced apart and constituting guideways; a plunger, comprising a central portion, bent down sides, and a stop or striking head at one end, said plunger being adapted to reciprocate in said guideways of the body; proj ectile-holding means at the outer end of the plunger; and a spring element arranged to project the plunger.

6. A toy gun comprising a body made of a single piece, formed rectangular, like an inverted U in cross-section, and provided at its sides with inturned members soaced apart and constituting guideways; a plunger made of a single {piece and consisting of a central portion and bent down sides, said plunger being adapted to reciprocate in said guideways of the body, the inner end of said plunger being formed to constitute a stop or striking head, having a downwardly extending flanged member; the outer end of the plunger being provided with cut out finger-member adapted to hold a projectile;

a split ring connected with the striking head of the plunger; a pin transversely afliXed in the sides of the body, and adapted to be removed by springing the sides apart; and a rubber band connecting said ring and pin.

7. A toy gun comprising a body made of a single piece, formed rectangular, like an inverted U in cross-section, and provided at its sides with in-turned members spaced apart and constituting guideways; a plunger made of-a single piece and consisting of a central portion and bent down sides, said plunger being adapted to reciprocate in said guideways of the body, the inner end of said plunger being formed to constitute a stop or striking head, having a downwardly extending flanged member; and the lateral edges of the striking head being bent in to reinforce such edges; the outer end of the plunger being provided with cut out fingermember adapted to hold a projectile.

A toy gun comprising a body made of a single piece, formed rectangular, like an inverted U in cross-section, and provided at its sides with inturned members spaced apart and constituting guideways the upper medial part of the body being provided with a recess at its inner end; a plunger made of a single piece and consisting of a central portion and bent down sides, said plunger being adapted to reciprocate in said guideways of the body, the inner end of said plunger being formed to constitute a stop or striking head, having a downwardly extending flanged member; and the lateral edges of the striking head being bent in to reinforce suchedges; and the striking head of said plunger being adapted, in cross-section, to enter said recess at the inner end of the body; the outer end of the plunger being provided with cut out finger-member adapted to hold a projectile; a split ring connected with the strikin head of the plunger; a pin transversely aliixed in the sides of the body, and adapted to be removed by springing the sides apart; and a rubber band con necting said ring and pin.

9. A toy gun comprising a body made of a single piece, formed rectangular, like an inverted U in cross-section, and provided at its sides with inturned members spaced apart and constituting guideways; the upper medial part of the body being provided with a recess at its inner end; a plunger made of a single piece and consisting of a central portion and bent down sides, said plunger being adapted to reciprocate in said guideways of the body, the inner end of said plunger being formed to constitute a stop or striking head, having a downwardly extending flanged member; and the lateral edges of the striking head being bent in to reinforce such edges; and the striking head of said plunger being adapted, in cross-section, to enter said recess at the inner end of the body; the outer end of the plunger being provided with cut out finger-member adapted to hold a projectile; a split ring connected With the striking head of the plunger; said ring being tapering in form for the purpose mentioned; a pin transversely affixed in the sides of the body, and adapted to be removed by springing the sides apart; and a rubber band connecting sald ring and p111.
