CRANE FOR CLOTHES-LINE PULLEYS.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, LUDWIG F. BECKER, citizen of the United States, and resident of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Cranes for Clothes- Line Pulleys, of which the following is a specification.

The invention is fully disclosed in the following specification of which the accompanying drawing forms a part and in which the separate parts of my improvements are designated by the same characters of reference in each of the views of the drawing.

The obj ect. of my invention is to provide a crane for clothesline pulleys at, windows which when in operative position extends into the room to allow the clothes to be placed upon the line, whereby the operator is not subjected to the danger of falling out of the window and, when in inoperative position will not interfere with the operation of the window-shutters.

Figure 1 is a View from the outside of a window frame, showing the device in inoperative position. Fig. 2 shows the same, the arm being turned toward the window ready to be swung up for use. Fig. 3 shows certain parts out of use, which are provided inside on the window frame. Fig. 4 gives a plain view of the whole device put up and ready for use.

I also show at a an outside window frame, at 70 an inside window frame and at m 0 and p the projections of a window frame, between which the sashes of a window are shoved up and down.

and serves as an additional brace for the same.

To put up the crane for use, it is necessary to turn the lug d above the plate 0 and raise the arm 6 to a horizontal position. The arm is held in this position by means of the hanger 2' which engages in one of the holes 6, c with which the arm is provided. The hook Z may then be laid over the arm. Attach the pulley with the clothes-line to hook h and hang up the clothes. hen this is done, pass both members of the elothesline over hook g, lift hook Z from arm 0 and disconnect same from hanger 2 and the arm will swing to the outside to a vertical position, whereupon the window can be closed. To take in the clothes, take up arm 6 connect it again with the hanger 2', fasten it again with hook Z. turning that hook over it, take out of hook both members of the clothes-line and take in the clothes. If through, disconnect the crane again as said before, slide arm 6 with lug cl up on bolt 6 until arm 6 gets over the shutter hinges, turn arm 0 away from the window and let it slide down. vVith that movement arm 6 is brought be hind the shutter-hinges and the shutters can be closed, see Fig. 1.

Having thus fully described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters-Patent 1. In a window crane. the combination of a vertical guide, a block pivotally and slidably mounted on said guide, a line supporting arm pivotally attached to said block and means to hold said arm in a horizontal position.

2. In a window crane, the combination of a vertical guide, a block pivotally and slidably mounted on said guide, a line supporting arm pivotally attached to said block, a hanger to hold said arm in a horizontal position and means at the base of said vertical guide to prevent rotation of the block when in its lowest position, said block being freely rotatable when raised above said means.
