Bc it known that I, lizaalxs ll. Banani', a citizen of the United States. resdin at San Francisco, in the county of San Irancisco a'id Stute of California, have invented a new and useful Ilot Blast for Boiler-Furnaces, of which the following is a slweitication, in such full and clear ternis as will enable those skilled in the art to construct and use i'he saine.
This invention relates to a nn-ans for the purpose of heating n blast of air for the more complete combustion of fuel in lire boxes of boilers xind other furnaces where a thick bed of coal is burnin". It is well known that where there is a Tar e amount of coal on tire that the air is wit i dilliculty burned to carbon dioxid, much of it bein f reduced in its passage through the thick of hot fuel to carbon monoxid with a corresponding loss of heat. units, since the heat given ntl by the burnin of oxygen to caron lnonoxid is only a out one third the heat given ott' by the burning of ox 'gen to carbon dioxid. [his loss is very di cult. to avoid for the reason that a large maas of coal must be heated in order that it ma be in condition to give out the necessary cat when its time cornes to burn to ashes, and this thick bed of fuel is always reducin the burning air and coal to carbon monoxit on its way up through the coal which is heated to such a temperature that the redliction takes place.
The object of this invention is to furnish the air necessary to burn the carbon luonoxid, al'tcr it has formed, to carlmndioxid, and to heat the air thus furnished to such a temperature that it will easily c-nnbine with the nionoxid and make certain the liberation of the greatest quantity of heat from the given uniss of fuel.
