; SAND-BLAST mAeHINE.
To all whom it may concern} p Be it known that I, QHAnLEs F. MO'LIZ, a
resident of Moon township, in the county of Beaver and State of Pennsylvania, have inventeda new and useful Improvement in Sand-Blast Machines; and I do hereby-do, clare the following to be a full ,-'clear, and exact description thereof. 7
My invention relates 'to sand-blast' ma chines.
The object of my invention is :to provide a machine of this character in which the apparatus employed is simple in construction and by means of which the objects to be sand-blasted or frosted may be done -in rapid succession andse exposed to -the action of the sand equally at all portions as to be uniformly frosted throughout.
To these 1- ends my invention comprisies,
reciprocating the same, a sand-pipe connec'ted to said air-pipe, a rotary support for the article to be operated on and nieans'jfor directing the sand-blast against said article. In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a sectional elevation of my improved ma chine; Fig. 2 is a plan view partly'brokeh away; and Fig. 3 is an enlarged viewof the support for the article to be operated on.
lnthedrawings, the numeral 2 desig'-' nates suitable standards which support the? ottom 4. to; reciprocate in bear-- receptacle 3 having the conical A pipe 5 is adapte I ing- 6, in the receptacle 3, .and to' one end of said ipeis connected the flexible couplin 7 w 1011 is connected up to the valve 8.
. The valve .8 is of. any suitable construction and isoperatedby the rod 9* whichis adapted to turn in anin 10 on the cover 11 of the rece tacle.) T e outer'end ofthe rod 10 hast e handle 12 for con-' venience ofthe o erator. air-supply pipe. 13 is connec up to theyalve 8, said supply pipe being connected t'o'a suitable" fan. The'opposite'end of" the pipe 5 is connecte'd'up in 'ny suitablemanner-to" the cross-headl w is adaptedtolreciprocatein the guide i A pitman '16 is 'conncted'up-to' the cross-Head and said;
pitman-is connected up the" pin 17 to arm 18 .on. the shaft 19, 10urn'a1ed in the bracket The arm 18 has the slot 21 with which t e pin 17 engages, The pin-wheel 22 issecured to the shaft 19 and Said Y shaft. 24 mounted in suitable bearings. The pulley 25 on, the shaft 24 may be connected manner reciprocating movement is imparted to-the pipe 5.
Connected t which may be connected to said ipe soas to extend therefrom at any desire angle;
ings by means 0 mitted to said pipes. 1 The receptacle 3 is by the sand-blast operation passes, and the nected tofa. suitable 'lex'haustx Iii-order to prevent the waste of the sandand -t he drawing-ofi. of thesjame through the exhaust. ipes 32, I employ bafllegiii in the passage 3;
